Does anyone know when Chicago begins responding to scholarship review requests? The website indicates sometime between the 25th and 31st of April, but I know that some other schools will make decisions earlier.

You've basically got it. They say they try to honor earlier deadlines, but aren't always able to.random number wrote:Does anyone know when Chicago begins responding to scholarship review requests? Got Doctoroff!
For all I know I owe lastsamurai a thank you for opening a spot. My decision will have to be made right after ASW. I'm hoping it goes really well or really poorly and makes it an easy choice haha.

When is everyone getting to ASW and where all y'all staying?
I'll be with a host in Regents Park, and planning on making it by Thursday night's events.

Cool! Have they made it clear yet how people typically get between Regents and the law school?Ricky-Bobby wrote:I will also be with a host in Regents, and I'll be getting in tonight.KatyMarie wrote:When is everyone getting to ASW and where all y'all staying?![]()

Re: Chicago Law Class of 2017
Random question for someone who knows Chicago--I'm staying w/ a relative in Lincoln Park for the weekend (didn't realize how much of a hike that is from HP!). Friday AM I was just planning on taking the red line and then the #2 express bus, but it doesn't run on weekends. Saturday AM I was thinking of taking the red line down to Garfield station and walking two miles to the law school b/c I am a big fan of walking...but are we talking about a super sketchy walk here or no? Thanks!KatyMarie wrote:Cool! Is anyone using any other airport shuttle service besides AirPort Express? It's telling me they can't pick me up until 30 minutes after I want to to be picked up, so I need another option.

I think I saw someone say there is a shuttle bus. I plan to follow my host around like a lost puppy.KatyMarie wrote:Cool! The walk from Garfield is decently sketchy, especially since it just started getting warm (higher gang activity as they reclaim areas, etc). I think you will be fine, but it might be smarter to take the Green Line to Cottage Grove and walk a few blocks rather than a few miles.kathj06 wrote:Random question for someone who knows Chicago--I'm staying w/ a relative in Lincoln Park for the weekend (didn't realize how much of a hike that is from HP!). Is this actually for real? I can't really fathom it being anything other than scare-mongering, but I haven't spent much time walking around Chicago.WheninLaw wrote: The walk from Garfield is decently sketchy, especially since it just started getting warm (higher gang activity as they reclaim areas, etc).

It is west side Chicago, which is not great (and going further west gets less and less smart). Most of Chicago is completely safe, and I think the walk would be fine. But yeah.cotiger wrote:Is this actually for real? I get in to O'Hare @ ~2:30pm tomorrow if anyone wants to split a cab downtown (staying a hotel near the Loop).

I think the green line is shady as fuck too. I would just take the el from Lincoln park to state street below the river and hop on a six. The six will still give you a fifteen minute walk to the school and it's a much nicer walk.

The green line is not shady. The walk from 63rd-->60th definitely is, but be smart about it (don't play with your phone, etc.) and it is fine. I do that walk a couple times a week and nothing has ever happened.Mal Reynolds wrote:I think the green line is shady as fuck too. I'm supposed to arrive at Regents from my airport shuttle at 6:30 Thursday so will definitely be up to chill with others at Regents! My host said he's hosting the pre game so there's that

All of these walks are going to be fine during the day. 63rd -> 60th is the only one I've felt uncomfortable on during daylight, but as long as you're smart about it you should be fine. The walk from the Red or Green lines aren't going to be particularly nice walks, though, depending on what you're looking for. The walk from the Metra is going to be better. If you're at all concerned about the walk from the Red line, though, just hop on the 55 and take it to Washington Park, and then walk the rest of the way.WheninLaw wrote:The green line is not shady.
