I was kind of hoping for the opposite. Now that everyone is done watching basketball maybe they will churn out decisions a little quicker.Chekhov'sGun wrote:I hope loss to Mercer in the NCAA Tourney won't negatively affect scholarship negotiations...

Re: Duke Class of 2017
I was in the 3/18 mailed date group (December acceptance, mid-February forms received), and I received my scholarship today in the Midwest. It's in line with what I could reasonably have expected, so Duke retains its perch at the top of my list.

Re: Duke Class of 2017
Got my offer. Form sent last week in Feb, went to Scholly Letter Mailed earlier this week.
Anyone know how they are with negotiation? If I could get them to match Northwestern I'd be headed Durham this fall.
Also, when should I look to start negotiation?

You guys I was really set on going somewhere else, but lately Duke's low tuition and low COL have become really appealing once I started looking at total debt numbers...

Yeah, I really think once I have more solid financial aid information that my opinions on where I'll be headed are likely to change. Debt of this scale horrifies me.lawschool22 wrote:You guys I was really set on going somewhere else, but lately Duke's low tuition and low COL have become really appealing once I started looking at total debt numbers...

Got my scholarship offer today (submitted 2/18, mailed 3/18) and was pleasantly surprised. Definitely leaning towards Duke now!

NYU. Still definitely at the top of my list. But Duke is giving me things to think about...Workingtitle wrote:Where were you set on before?lawschool22 wrote:You guys I was really set on going somewhere else, but lately Duke's low tuition and low COL have become really appealing once I started looking at total debt numbers...

Got my scholarship offer today. It's lower than Michigan's. Too early to negotiate or no?

Finally broke down and had a friend check my mail (I was in the 3/18 mailing group)
Definitely happy with my offer, but still planning to try to negotiate of course
pm if you're interested in more info

Got the scholly offer, was mailed 3/17.
I think from LSN mine is typical? There aren't many data points on there for scholarships so I'm not quite sure.
ETA: Mine was a little low, but not dramatically. Duke is entirely merit at this point, or do these include need-based stuff?

Yep I think it does. But don't forget you can probably bump it up a bit through negotiation if you want.scoobers wrote:Got the scholly offer, was mailed 3/17.

Re: Duke Class of 2017
Just got my offer letter and I'm not impressed although I dunno how high or low it is compared to applicants with similar stats, they gave me slightly less than NYU did. Has anyone had any luck with negotiating so far?
(also, Letter sent 3/17 so it took 5 days for me to get it on the west coast.)

Re: Duke Class of 2017
I'm also interested in negotiation, although my leverage seems to be weaker than many others on here. Lots of wait lists for me from the schools ahead of Duke in the rankings. I'm not displeased with my offer by any means, but honestly if Duke bumped it $10k a year, my cycle would probably be over and I'd be Durham-bound.

Re: Duke Class of 2017
Was at UVA's Open House so I had to wait to see my offer till I got back. On par with what LSN suggests, but less than what UVA offered (plus I have in-state status for UVA) so there's a $30k delta between the two. Not sure if I want to play the negotiation game...and I'm also a Duke alum from UG so I feel like that institution's taken enough of my money, haha. We'll see. I will say though that I think Duke tries to distribute scholarship offers broadly, which is a more equitable way of doing it than a lot of other schools, I'd think.

Just to confirm -- when the status update in the upper right box disappears, that means scholarship info is on way soon?
