In the same boat as you. Accepted mid-January and haven't heard anything definitive re: scholarships/aid.t14splitter wrote:Forgive me if this has already been addressed, but what's the deal with scholarship offers? I was accepted fairly early on on January and have not heard anything since (I expect to get at least some money).
Who has heard already and does anyone know when the rest of decisions will come out?

Looking for housing is kind of annoying. I can't figure out if I want a roommate or not.

Re: UPenn Class of 2017
I got in on the housing search early and I'm glad to be done now. I have a large dog so it was really difficult for me to find a place that would take him. I looked at all the places in the welcome packet thing that Penn sent out and a bunch of others but none of them would accept husky mixes. I found my 1br in University City on Craigslist so don't be afraid to use that in your search, especially if you have special circumstances! Good luck!faith77 wrote:Just got the itinerary today, too!
How is everyone's housing search? I'll be traveling in the summer so I'm trying to get housing squared away. Do law students tend to gravitate toward center city?
I've been looking into some 2 bedrooms because I prefer to live with at least one other person... just gotta find a roommate(s)... Options are to either shout it out on FB or follow up after ASW with people I click with. I don't want to use that roommate match service... that didn't go over too well with me during college.

I also took care of the housing search early - went with a cheap studio in University City. I'm definitely planning to move to Center City for 2L and 3L though, and looking back I kinda wish I considered Center City more for 1L too. Right now I'm leaning toward staying in Philly for 1L summer, and I think Center City would be way more fun.rutgers17 wrote:I got in on the housing search early and I'm glad to be done now. I think I am doing CC for all 3 years, I am hoping I can find a place now and not move anywhere else the whole time I am in school.

Wondering if it'll be better/more fun to pick a classier restaurant or a place with a bigger bar selection.

So do merit and financial aid come separately? I just got my acceptance packet and no mention of either, though I already have an email that says no financial aid. Am I correct in assuming this means nothing wrt merit aid?

I've set some appointments to check out some places next week. 2400 Chestnut looks pretty good to me, but only if I have a roommate. It's that perfect distance where I don't feel like I'm too close to campus, but I'm not that far...

2400 is pretty close to the law school actually, as close as you can be on the Center City side of the river and probably closer than most West Philly places students live. It's OK but a little pricy and the walls are thin.faith77 wrote: I've set some appointments to check out some places next week. 2400 Chestnut looks pretty good to me, but only if I have a roommate. Has anyone checked out the Courts Apartments in University City? Is that far from campus?
Also looking into Riverwest in Center City.

I heard the courts is a no go because it's a little college like and kind of run down. I'm trying to get into Riverwest, I've heard nothing but good things and the location is perfect. Right I the city but walking distance from Penn.faith77 wrote:Ah I see - good to know!Nelson wrote:2400 is pretty close to the law school actually, as close as you can be on the Center City side of the river and probably closer than most West Philly places students live. Yeah, I figured the breweries would be more fun. That said, it doesn't seem like any of the places are too "fancy," and I'm sure they will all be relatively laid back since it's entirely current and prospective students (i.e. no adcoms, profs, etc.).goldenboy514 wrote:Good idea, probably more fun to go to a place where its informal and alcohol lol.
