Anyone else feel uncomfortable telling people what they scored due to the reaction? I am also uncomfortable with the discomfort I show telling people the score.

IRL, of course. Here it's nothing special.

Most of the people I know IRL think the "LSAT's" are something you pass, so telling them a random three digit score doesn't mean much. If they ask me if that's a good score you can just tell them the percentile and they get it. I don't really feel discomfort at it, i mean we did earn it.

Same here, I think there were only a handful of people I knew who actually understood what my score meant.

Mine was from the same UG as well. I was wondering whether that was a coincidence or not.

I really doubt it being a councidence.

I go to a UG with a 150 LSAT average. They couldn't find any students/alumni from there so they connected me with a guy from a nearby university. I'm super impressed at them putting that much effort to try and relate to me.

The percentile thing always makes it so awkward for me.... "How'd you do?!" "17x" "Is that good?" "99 Percentile" "Is that good?" "Yes..." "Oh..." "K"

Followed by: "Oh what schools have you gotten into?" "NYU!" "Oh is that good?" "Yes, it's #6" "Is that good?" "Yes...." "Oh..."

That conversation right there was pretty much 3/4 of my holiday conversations involving law school. Most people understood the percentile thing though.

Yeah, I mean they understood the percentile; but, as I am sure is the case for most of you, my family/friends have sort of gotten used to me being at least somewhere in the top of my peer group. But I think they forget that it keeps funneling down: Top 10% high school goes to college, top 10% college--> top 1% LSAT. So they're kinda like, good job at being normal-smart doofus.

Yeah I get the "well we're not surprised" when they hear about the LSAT, the acceptances, etc. I'm like geeze thanks, maybe just say "good job!" Lol

I haven't yet figured out a way to tell people what I got without potentially coming across as bragging or douchey, so I've just been saying "I did well" unless it's a close friend (or a family member).

That must be nice. People thought I was kidding when I told them what I got on the LSAT.

That's one thing that is nice about being cloaked in the 99th percentile, it covers a fairly large numerical range. So if I'm speaking to someone who knows the score band, I can just say that and so far no one has seemed to view me as douchemonger.

I did have a lot of people question my third take though, based on my second score. Then when I got the third score no-one cared, lol.

I do the "I did well," or "I'm really happy with my score thing." Most people don't press past there, but if they do I tell them. I figure they can't be upset about me answering a question that they were asking so insistently.

Happy 800th post! Maybe using it ITT means you will get a full scholly from NYU.

Ha, I also have friends who were MORE than happy to tell other people about my score, which has occasionally led to random people coming up and saying (at rather inconvenient times, like at work) "HEY, CONGRATS ON YOUR LSAT SCORE!"

If my having burnt my chicken scores me a full scholly from NYU then I will make it a habit to burn chicken.

Of course it will probably be the post, not the burning that counts, but that's no fun.

This is exactly the reason why I almost don't want to be accepted to too many schools. Because I already know that I will turn into an insane FWP crybaby about decisions (January submitter, so I only have this one so far).

Of course this would all be solved by a simple call from Asha

I just tell people it was good enough to make up for my shit GPA. But on non-HYSCCN standards my GPA is quite ok, so I sound douchey either way.

Also, unrelated to koala's comment, what's fwp?

btw how does the NYU admitted day travel stipend work if one exists? I went through older threads and it seems you have to email their financial aid office and ask for one, but to limited avail. am i missing something?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
