Yep, another splitter here with little money. But I was never interested in Cornell in the first place and I got much better offers from higher ranked schools, so I'll be withdrawing soon.deputydog wrote:us splitters aren't getting any $$$ love. Cornell is my favorite, but I'm really sad at the money they offered.
Good luck to you though if you plan on negotiating! It seems like they're pretty receptive

169/3.5
I got 30K total in scholarship... I realize my GPA'sn't too high for Cornell, but does the offer seem kinda low?
I'm thinking about trying to negotiate with a 90K offer from WUSTL... It's worth a try, but how good do you all think is the prospect of upping their offer based on a lower-ranked school...??

With those numbers you're probably getting $$$ from higher ranked schools. Maybe you could negotiate with them?Lightworks wrote:173/3.6 and I got $45K total
At any rate, it appears that Cornell has a target range(167-69 LSAT and 3.65+ GPA) and is giving people in it very strong offers compared to those who probably have T6 options.

There are definitely some traditional splitters ITT that have been given underwhelming offers. Should Cornell be added to the "splitter-unfriendly" group?
I just hope there's $ leftover for me

Re: Cornell Class of 2017 (Now with $$$$)
I got my financial aid letter via email tonight, while I was in the airport heading to Ithaca. The amount I got was about as much as I expected I guess, not great but not terrible either. Might try negotiating.
Does anyone have any advice on how to go about negotiating? I can probably pass by the financial aid office tomorrow if anything. Do I just tell them a bit more money would seal the deal?
In any case, looking forward to seeing the school and meeting more people tomorrow (I met some people on the way here).

I got way more from NU and Michigan. Unfortunately, people with numbers like mine tend to get a lot of waitlists, and my cycle has born that out.King Cayuga wrote:With those numbers you're probably getting $$$ from higher ranked schools. Re: Cornell Class of 2017 (Now with $$$$)
I haven't received any merit scholarship awards thus far. I have a 3.6X GPA and 171 LSAT, and was admitted in late March.
On the admit packet, it said that those applying for 'combination' merit and need-based aid must complete the need access application. But what about JUST merit scholarship? Why haven't I heard anything - did I do wrong by not doing the need access app? Did I fuck something up? Do I need to do that need access app ASAP?
I thought money was just given out without any need to fill forms. Like with UVA, I didn't do anything I just received a scholarship through mail....

Umm there's at least a financial aid form that you gotta fill out before they can do anything at all. If you don't do needaccess and don't want/need any need-based aid then you'll be fine.mulhollanddrive wrote:I haven't received any merit scholarship awards thus far. Also, if you were recently admitted, then idk how fast you can really expect financial aid to get back to you. I mean I'm gonna guess they probably will do it relatively fast since it's April now and deposits for other schools are happening/coming up, but it's been slow for a lot of people.
Some people get aid via email and others via snail mail. If the latter, sometimes it takes like over a week from the posted date on the award letter for you to actually receive the letter (that's what happened to me). HTH

In the alternative, I believe my previous statement covers that.

For anyone looking for housing: 1BR apartment off of E. Buffalo St. and Stewart, which is less than a 1/2 mile from the law school (about an 8 min. walk to the law school). Landlord is great (rare to find in Ithaca) and the five other units in the building are filled with law students and Ph.d students. Rent is $1010 + utilities (~$30). No pets allowed. PM me if interested.

I asked to have my scholarship offer renegotiated two weeks ago. Got an immediate email back saying they would make a decision "soon" but nothing since. Is it appropriate to ask about the status of my offer or am I jumping the gun? I've got a seat deposit date coming up tomorrow at another school so I'm antsy.
(For the record, 167/3.87, initial offer 20k a year. Nothing that screams I DESERVE MORE MONEY but the initial quick response made me so hopeful)

First off tina, I absolutely love your avatar. Just brilliant. Secondly I confronted a similar problem and I just put my first deposit down at the other school. Especially if the other choice involves substantial scholarship, it's really worth to secure that for a while longer. If you're worried but the ethical nature of multiple deposits, just know that by the time that information is dispersed (who still has multiple deposits) you'll be in a position to withdraw those deposits (you'll have all the pertinent info).
