When is a good time to try and deposit on an apartment near campus? Would I be too late in June? May? I want to take a trip up there and find one but I probably won't get to until early June...

I think it depends on where you want to live. Supposedly Crowne Polo is hard to get, but there's plenty of other places. June is also House Hunt so I'm sure a lot of places have openings until then.AT9 wrote:When is a good time to try and deposit on an apartment near campus? Would I be too late in June? May? Good point. I'll try to make it up in early June I guess. I won't be shooting for Crowne Polo (or the other Crownse) because they're a little to pricey for what I'm looking for.cricketlove00 wrote:I think it depends on where you want to live. Side note on the employment data: maybe it will deter some people from committing which will leave the class size reasonable (unlike last year).

Also, I have a telephonic meeting with Kim Fields on Monday regarding my email I sent about the employment numbers.

On a related note, my 21st birthday will be only a couple of weeks after I move to WS, so if anyone is gonna be in town and wants to be my friend/drinking buddy PM me! I'd really rather not spend my birthday on a hot date with a bottle of wine
When exactly is your birthday? I will be there for July 8th

I am in at Alaris...the girl there told me that I don't have to put a deposit down until I move in, but I have an apartment reserved for me already...she said it was good that I reserved one now because the prices go up starting in April...Yazzzay wrote:Wait how soon do you guys think we need to put a deposit down for an apt at one of the crownes? I'm not visiting until May and don't want to before then...but also really into those apts.RonBurgundy wrote:cricketlove00 wrote:Crowne Polo is where it's at. I put my deposit in too and am also looking for a room mate. TLS match made in heaven?xqa00 wrote:I've decided over the weekend on wake for the fall. Between how the school felt and the opportunities it will provide in addition to the amazing offer that wake made me, I'm incredibly excited to start. I put down a deposit for a two room apartment at Crowne Polo before the admitted students day, so I should be a lock there. I'll probably start moving all my stuff down there a month before orientation. Now just to find a roommate
I just deposited at Wake and at Crowne Polo. I'm not looking for a roommate since I'm moving up with my fiance. The cool thing is that aside from you all I have already met a couple other people in our class that are going to live there too. Looks like study groups should be easy enough to arrange at Crowne Polo.

They are independently owned, I will FB message you a link to a few. I actually just bought a condo in there so the one i am renting now (which is awesome and super cheap) will be up for rent in June. I would recommend grabbing that one ($750/month including water and trash for 1200 sq ft). Aspen is a 5 minute walk from campus, which is good with the huge parking problem at Wake and the high price for a parking pass.hailcaesar34 wrote:Link or number?shaynislegend wrote:It is all about the Aspen Condos, you guys.

Anyone know what happens the week after the Friday orientation? I see the upperclassmen don't have class until the 25th so I didn't know if we had things programmed the whole week of the 18th or not.

And I'm not sure about the orientation. I figured it would be more than one day, but maybe I'm wrong.

Re: Wake Forest Law Class of 2017
In case any of you guys are still agonizing over the employment stats (like me), I thought it would be helpful to take a bigger-picture view by looking at Wake's performance over the past 5 years vs. schools who will be offering the most competition in nearby states:
In order, here are the 5-year averages of the percentage of graduates in long-term, full-time, bar-passage-required, non-school-funded jobs:
Georgia: 72%
North Carolina: 71%
Wake Forest/George Washington/Tennessee: 68%
South Carolina: 67%
Emory: 66%
William & Mary: 64%
Richmond: 61%*
Washington & Lee: 58%
George Mason: 54%
This doesn't answer all my concerns, but it shows that in the long-term, Wake is still among the better choices in the region. I applied to and was accepted at 6 of these schools, and Wake was the cheapest because of the $ they throw out. Hope this serves as some comfort for those of you matriculating this fall
