Nice scholarship offer.
Waiting to hear back from other schools before making a decision, but wouldn't mind going to GW

I think I remember seeing on the ASW that if you matriculate to GW, they will give you back $150 (but no stipend otherwise).xmking07 wrote:Does anyone know the travel stipend situation for GW? I haven't received the admissions packet yet and haven't found it on the admitted students website.
It says on the ASW that "A reimbursement of up to $150.00 for travel expenses (airfare, train, busfare, car mileage) related to Preview events will be available upon matriculation in August. Please be sure to hold on to all receipts."LSBound2017 wrote:I think I remember seeing on the ASW that if you matriculate to GW, they will give you back $150 (but no stipend otherwise).xmking07 wrote:Does anyone know the travel stipend situation for GW? Yup. Clerking. I'll PM you so as to not fill-up the pre-L thread.Teoeo wrote:mi-chan17 wrote:Ditto. (What up, Teo?)Teoeo wrote:Congrats to everyone who got in, feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the school or the area.

Oh hey! Long time no see. I am working for a labor agency of the California State Government. What about you? You are a federal clerk right? That sounds pretty crazy, what is it like?

Never mind about the Facebook group. The link on the first post of this thread links to the dead page I was talking about. Here's the link to the real group, for anyone who hasn't found it yet: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1413718918865714/oliolio wrote:Checking in as wellCongrats to everybody! Doesn't look like the Facebook group is being managed at all - as far as I can see there are only two accepted members. Also, anybody going to the admitted students gathering in LA on March 4th?

If you want cheap, you can all but forget DC, save having a place with a few other roommates. Your best bet will be Arlington or Alexandria, both of which offer metro commutes. Two metro lines go to GW, the orange and the blue. The orange goes through Arlington and the blue Alexandria.inyoureyes89 wrote:what is the cheapest closeish/safe neighborhood to GWU? i don't mind commuting a bit via metro... though I'm sure that'll add up
The Aston seems pretty nice, though it is pricey. Then again, it seems to me like everything in DC is, so I may just go with it.haleigh123 wrote:What are people doing for housing!?
From what I can gather it is all pricey. My main concern is budgeting to allow for summer months...oliolio wrote:The Aston seems pretty nice, though it is pricey. Then again, it seems to me like everything in DC is, so I may just go with it.haleigh123 wrote:What are people doing for housing!?

More expensive than that.... it's up to $18,700 as of this past year and it's for just a bit under 10 months... This year we had it from August 5th - May 24th. That does include utilities, cable and internet... but yeah pretty crazy expensive.checkin2014 wrote:Check in. I'd like to go to GW though I feel like negotiating for more $$.
I am also interested in Aston. So the price on the website (around $17k/year) for Aston is for 10 moths or 12 moths? It looks like a great place to live but $1700/moth (assume it's 10 months) seems too pricy for me.
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
