Re: Michigan Class of 2017
They've been sending out interview requests for Darrows over the past month, and I think the last day to respond to the request is Jan. 11th. After that, interviews happen over the next 3 weeks.
Beyond that, I have no idea. If you haven't gotten a request, I guess you might in the next week(?).

Checking in! Not gonna lie, I've been a lifelong hater of the Wolverines (combination of factors) but pretty stoked to be making this post nevertheless. Congratulations all. Looking forward to the banter.

I don't think it's open for registration yet. As I recall, we're meant to get an email when its available.jk148706 wrote:So how do I register for preview weekend ?
Also, Huffpost published a "9 Reasons You Must Eat in Ann Arbor," if anyone's interested! I agree wholeheartedly on all of these except for #7 - I went to Vellum once and was not impressed at all, though I guess it's always possible that they've worked out the kinks as I was there not long after they opened. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lisa-lubi ... 33805.html

Does anyone know the average delay between acceptance and scholarship offer? It's been 2 weeks for me and no word yet.

It's been a few weeks for me and no word yet (accepted mid-December). But I remember receiving an email from Michigan in late December saying that the majority of scholarship decisions are made in January, and they should be caught up with scholarship offers by the end of January. So I wouldn't worry until then if you haven't heard.nuke_engineer wrote:Does anyone know the average delay between acceptance and scholarship offer? It's been 2 weeks for me and no word yet.

So I shouldn't be alarmed (yet?) about "Zero Rewards." . . . Also, seems like there's gotta be a slightly gentler way to say that. Feels a bit like Gene Wilder yelling "YOU GET NOTHING! YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!"LSBound2017 wrote:It's been a few weeks for me and no word yet (accepted mid-December). Haha no not yet. Someone correct me if I'm wrong....but I'm pretty sure everyone has that message until they receive an award. I wouldn't worry until February 1st.UserNameHere wrote:So I shouldn't be alarmed (yet?) about "Zero Rewards." . . . Also, seems like there's gotta be a slightly gentler way to say that. Haha good to know! I have it as well and I definitely feel like poor Charlie during that scene. Michigan is high on my list, but I'd have a hard time making it happen at sticker.LSBound2017 wrote:Haha no not yet. Checking in -- got in a few days ago but forgot about this thread.
Re scholarships: I think they've always had the language about not increasing offers, but apparently they still do sometimes. I would try to negotiate rather than withdrawing. There's no upside to withdrawing at this point.

Especially as that language conflicts with what they say on the website/what dean Z has said on a2z. I know if I don't get an award or if I don't get much I'll use anything else I have to try to negotiate. You're already in after all - it can't hurt.midwest17 wrote:Checking in -- got in a few days ago but forgot about this thread.

Well, she's said on A2Z that their policy is not to adjust awards, but that they'll take individual circumstances into account and could override that policy.alex.cm wrote:Especially as that language conflicts with what they say on the website/what dean Z has said on a2z. Right, that's what I meant. Basically, offers are not necessarily firm.midwest17 wrote:Well, she's said on A2Z that their policy is not to adjust awards, but that they'll take individual circumstances into account and could override that policy.alex.cm wrote:Especially as that language conflicts with what they say on the website/what dean Z has said on a2z. Checking in, accepted today and I'm looking forward to the Preview Weekend. Michigan is one of my top choices, although I'm waiting to here back from other schools still. Congratulations to everyone on this thread!

Re: Michigan Class of 2017
Hey All,
Congratulations! I'm a current 1L here to sublease my place to any summer starters interested. I live in Zaragon West in a two bedroom, two bath, fully furnished apartment on the tenth floor with incredible panoramic views of Ann Arbor including the Big House and the Law Quad. Most likely, no one will be in the other bedroom, so you'd have the apt all to yourself. Zaragon West is about a six minute walk to the law school and easily one of the nicest places to live in A2. The complex has a small gym with some equipment on the ground floor and a parking garage that cost extra to use.
My umich email is zacbaugh@umich.edu, so feel free to get in touch with me if you are interested or you just have any general questions about Michigan, life as a first year, or the application process. It honestly would be hard to find a nicer place to live, and I expect to have this joint subleased quickly, so hop on it.

Nothing listed on the Admitted Student's website, but under "admissions communications" it says that they mailed me a Dean's Scholarship Award Letter today. Cue freakout, since if Michigan offers me a decent scholarship then that's where I'm going. do we have any idea what the range of $$ offered is for these?
Edit: for those of you now obsessively checking the site, I was accepted 11/6.

Thanks for the info! Was this listed separately from the offer package or as part of it?alex.cm wrote:Nothing listed on the Admitted Student's website, but under "admissions communications" it says that they mailed me a Dean's Scholarship Award Letter today. Not entirely sure what you mean, so I just c/p'd the page from admissions communications:samoby wrote:Thanks for the info! Ah, I see! I had read your post wrong and thought you were accepted 1/6, so I was wondering if the dean's scholarship letter was mailed with the offer package (as in Offer Package [including conditions of offer, portfolio, dean's scholarship letter, and flash drive]), but if you were accepted 11/6 and it just got sent, I guess not.alex.cm wrote:Not entirely sure what you mean, so I just c/p'd the page from admissions communications:samoby wrote:Thanks for the info! Interviews are new this year, so none of us have any idea what's going to happen. I think the first ones are on the 18th, so maybe we'll hear about the format/goal around then.mac2013 wrote:checking in.
