The personalized e-mail from the dean was a really nice touch! Stanford is growing stronger and stronger in my preferences

Every single interaction I've had with SLS has been extremely warm, relaxed, and personal.

Re: Stanford Class of 2017
Just got an email from a guy I hung out with in college who's a student there now. Apparently the admissions office told him about my acceptance.
Well played, Stanford. I agree about the warm feeling emanating from Palo Alto.

Beyond happy to be checking in (admitted last week). The shock/elation haven't quite worn off!
Has anyone else checked out the SLS Navigator on the ASW? I'm totally geeking out over this thing...

Does anyone know what the usual turn around time for financial aid is? I submitted by FAFSA and Need Access about a week ago and was wondering when I should expect to hear back. Thanks in advance to everyone!

I emailed them yesterday about that. They told me they start calculating offers on or shortly after March 1st once they get the final budget from the university. They said that they work fast and typically start sending them out around March 15. Hope this helps!blckwsl wrote:Does anyone know what the usual turn around time for financial aid is? Also, I was told emailing in tax returns is fine and there's no rush on it.

I'm trying to figure out hotels for the ASW. Does anyone know what reasonably priced hotels have convenient transportation to campus? I can't seem to find any info on Stanford's site.

This is probably a stupid question, but do people generally sign up for all of the available meals? The dinners & dessert reception seem like a must, but I don't want to show up to the breakfasts if it means I'll be eating oatmeal by myself.

edit - I also did the small group dinners when I went to the GSB admit weekend and they were a ton of fun. I'm guessing it will be the same for SLS admit weekend too!

So it looks like we can only apply for housing once we accept SLS? Just want to confirm since the HLS housing app is different (and we have to begin the process before accepting).
And congrats on the JD/MBA WRKRB!

Thank you!

My understanding was that with the exception of Schwab (GSB dorm), grad students all enter the general grad student housing lottery together in late April/early May (but not before then). You have to have your SUNet/Axess activated to do so. There may be some slightly different procedure for 1Ls though, since I know a big block of Munger is held for us.

Just checking... Stanford doesn't offer any housing options for ASW, right? We have to book hotel rooms?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
