emailed saying no need-based aid, and was never offered an opportunity to apply for merit schollys (though I was an ED admit, so no surprise there)1948 wrote:did they email you and say outright no aid or you just haven't heard anything? waiting to hear anything and don't know what to expect.hardrive6 wrote:Ditto.applelover wrote:no merit-based or need-based aid.

Thats how mine was structured. I assume it is to account for money you could be making in your 1L and 2L summer.... but thats really a guess hahaBlackfish wrote:Is it normal for your need based grant to get smaller each year? Like from 20k the first year to 15 then 10

After reading through the responses I am bit confused on when scholarship/need-based aid is offered.
Is it with your initial acceptance email? Or is it in the snail mail packet?

It comes in an e-mail several weeks after you've been accepted.lawschool2014hopeful wrote:After reading through the responses I am bit confused on when scholarship/need-based aid is offered.

I'm so ready to hear if they're seriously considering me for Toll already. This cycle has been hell.

Same here. I hope they tell us one way or another today. I would really love to be considered, since it looks like I won't be getting much $ from any schools and I'm really liking Penn as an option.Robbin Blue wrote:I'm so ready to hear if they're seriously considering me for Toll already. Re: UPenn Class of 2017
I'm ED, so take this with a grain of salt, but after submitting FAFSA & NA, I received an email with a link to financial aid office's site and the letter on that site informed me that "[a] careful and thorough need analysis has been completed on [my] financial aid application," and that I did not "qualify for need-based financial assistance (grant) from the Law School." It said that their "review indicates that [my] financial need can be met through...personal resources and...student loans," and finally, that "[a]ll potential resources and possible sources of support were considered in our analysis."1948 wrote:anybody just waiting on merit-based scholarship (not named) get an email saying they got no money? i'm expecting this to happen but don't know whether to look for an email saying it or just nothing

^i got the same thing, but not ED. Does this mean we won't be getting any merit aid? Or could that come later?

Not ED either. When that email came out, I called and asked if that applied to just need-based or all aid and they said just need-based and they'd be sending out merit decisions later.

Sort of a stupid question, but I might be getting into Philly the morning of ASW with little time to get to my hotel and leave my stuff and then get to the campus. Is anyone else in this situation? What will you do with your stuff? Carry it around all day?ohpobrecito wrote:ASW is so close weeeeeeeeeeee

I think they will have places in the school to leave your coats/luggage for people in this situation.

Unfortunately, I can't make ASW. I was planning to go to Penn Preview Day instead. Anyone else going to be there? Will I miss a lot by missing ASW?
