Has anyone tried filling out the merit application yet? It says to log in and click on "My Application" but I cannot for the life of me find this button.

I got the link in an email. I told them I only wanted to do merit aid, and they sent me an email w/ the link:Theopliske8711 wrote:.... where is that exactly? Don't quote, but here's the email:
You have contacted us about only applying for merit based institutional aid. In order to only apply for merit based financial aid, you will need to complete our institutional financial aid application. The application is available on-line at https://faaps.law.nyu.edu/studentmain.html. You will be instructed on that webpage to log in using your LSAC# or SSN (Lxxxxxxxx or xxxxxxxxx) as your username, and your birthdate (mmddyyyy) as your password. Once you are in the database, click on “My Application”, and fill in the requested information.
As a reminder, students who choose not to provide parental information will only be considered for merit based financial aid. Additionally, if you likewise choose not to provide any of your own personal financial information, you risk having possible future post-graduate loan repayment assistance significantly reduced under NYU School of Law's LRAP. For this reason, we strongly encourage applicants to at least provide their personal financial information.
As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions about the financial aid process.

On the admitted students website, it says that submitting the Need Access is all you need to do to be considered for NYU scholarships.lawschool22 wrote:Don't quote, but here's the email:

I know, but like I said I emailed them to be considered for merit-aid only so as to avoid the Need Access form, which requires a separate form.gta wrote:On the admitted students website, it says that submitting the Need Access is all you need to do to be considered for NYU scholarships.lawschool22 wrote:Don't quote, but here's the email:

Got it. So I don't need to worry about the merit application if I'm submitting the Need Access. Sorry I can't be helpful.lawschool22 wrote:I know, but like I said I emailed them to be considered for merit-aid only so as to avoid the Need Access form, which requires a separate form.

Sorry I quoted. Missed the part about not quoting. Sleepy, but unwilling to go to bed for some reason.

Lol. I've said this before, but luckily LG skills are not needed in the forums or I would be screwed.Theopliske8711 wrote:This is why I got that verdammte -5 on RC.

Yeah, I'm sure you missed a lot of LG to bring you down to that paltry 173.lawschool22 wrote:Lol. I've said this before, but luckily LG skills are not needed in the forums or I would be screwed.Theopliske8711 wrote:This is why I got that verdammte -5 on RC.

Wait, you weren't good at LG? This hurts my theory of LG skills and math skills being strongly correlated.lawschool22 wrote:Lol. I've said this before, but luckily LG skills are not needed in the forums or I would be screwed.Theopliske8711 wrote:This is why I got that verdammte -5 on RC.

Re: NYU Class of 2017
I could serve as a counter example to that theory. Despite always scoring high in math, and taking a few elevated calculus courses during undergrad, I was terrible at LG. Had to drill 3x as hard to get even within a few points of my LR & RC.koalacity wrote:Wait, you weren't good at LG? Re: NYU Class of 2017
I just didn't study enough. I could probably go -0 if I had 40 minutes, but I would make stupid mistakes in the easier games from rushing through them so I could have enough time for the harder ones. Like i would go -1, -2, -0, -1 or something like that usually. Stupid I know. I wish I would have studied longer, or had more time to study. But I didn't make the final decision to go to law school and take the LSAT this year until late July, and I worked full-time, so I had to squeeze in study time whenever I could lol.koalacity wrote:Wait, you weren't good at LG? But on the other hand I would much more consistently go -0 or -1 overall on LR and -0 or -1 on RC, so I didn't complain too much. I wish I would have been able to take December, but that was a no go because from mid-October to Christmas I work 65+ hour weeks

ETA: In my heart of hearts I still just think I suck at LG and would have gotten a -5 no matter how long I studied lol.

I had only gone -0 on LG on a PT once before the actual test. My score was luck, sheer luck.lawschool22 wrote: I just didn't study enough.
