I guess this is yet another reason why I'll need to break down and get a smartphone before law school.applelover wrote:I synced mine to my phone so that when I check my emails I can check all of my accounts at once.lastsamurai wrote:You can have it forwarded to your gmail...I think it makes everything much simplerNonconsecutive wrote:I keep forgetting about that email address, I even open it but somehow that tab merges into my other gmail tab in my mind's eye.TripTrip wrote:You guys are checking your Harvard emails not just your personal emails, right?

I need to do this. I synced it with my laptop Outlook but not my work one or my phone yet. Just got real busy and haven't sat down to do it!applelover wrote:I synced mine to my phone so that when I check my emails I can check all of my accounts at once.lastsamurai wrote:You can have it forwarded to your gmail...I think it makes everything much simplerNonconsecutive wrote:I keep forgetting about that email address, I even open it but somehow that tab merges into my other gmail tab in my mind's eye.TripTrip wrote:You guys are checking your Harvard emails not just your personal emails, right?

100th post!
Anyway, so it sounds like NYC drinks will be on the 25th. Should we say 8:30ish somewhere in midtown or a little lower? That way it can be somewhat convenient for people coming from all over Manhattan and from Brooklyn. Does that sound about right?

So for those whose admissions cycle is over*, what are you doing now? It's a long time until September.. I'm trying to figure out a good way to make use of the months it feels like just got added back to my life (that I would have otherwise spent obsessing over apps).

I am reading a whole bunch of legal books…yeah, if you feel like months have been added to your life, don't do what I am doing.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:So for those whose admissions cycle is over*, what are you doing now? It's my passion independent of preparation for law school. I just finished An Introduction to Legal Reasoning and now I am reading The Bramble Bush. I don't pretend that it will give me an edge come this fall but I just really like this stuff.TripTrip wrote:As a current 1L: why?The-Specs wrote:I am reading a whole bunch of legal books…yeah, if you feel like months have been added to your life, don't do what I am doing.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:So for those whose admissions cycle is over*, what are you doing now? I'm doing as little as possible. I feel like my life is about to get really busy (for the next several decades) and I want to take advantage of this time to not have to worry about much. So I'm just reading the Game of Thrones series, teaching the LSAT, and hanging out with old friends for the next 8 months.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:So for those whose admissions cycle is over*, what are you doing now? Nice, teaching the LSAT. Me too. Who knew that preparing for law school could turn out to be lucrative.CyanIdes Of March wrote:I'm doing as little as possible. It's been pretty great so far. Really couldn't find a better job for what I'm looking for in this short period of my life.The-Specs wrote:Nice, teaching the LSAT. Me too. I really wish I didn't live in such a relatively isolated area, otherwise I'd love to teach the LSAT for some temporary income growth.

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
That's not really a hindrance. The company I worked for flew me from my home to Chicago and back twice a week to teach. I made bank working part time and got to explore another city. If I hadn't been in school at the time they would have just paid for me to move me out there for two months to teach.Nonconsecutive wrote:I really wish I didn't live in such a relatively isolated area, otherwise I'd love to teach the LSAT for some temporary income growth.
Also, for all of you wondering what you should be doing right now; get your resume, cover letter, and a list of potential references ready for next December. http://www.law.harvard.edu/current/care ... -tips.html
You can't use the resume you used to apply to law schools, you need to re-write the whole thing in Harvard's format. If you don't, your interviewers will look at you incredulously.

Anyone else get put into contact with a current HLS student? Mine went to my UG which is pretty neat.
EDIT: Meant student, not alum.

I got put in contact with a current student. I've also been talking to an HLS alum, but that wasn't through the admissions office.CyanIdes Of March wrote:Anyone else get put into contact with a current HLS alum.? Mine went to my UG which is pretty neat.

Finally writing my 250 and submitting that app; working full-time; doing a very part time thing too; relaxing; coming to terms with the fact that I actually got into HLS. And hoping to leave my job in June/July and travel for a month or so, maybe in Asia.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:So for those whose admissions cycle is over*, what are you doing now? Yeah, I actually have been in frequent contact with two 2Ls. It's been an amazing resource and, on a more personal level, I've really enjoyed talking with both of them. It's been a great outreach effort by Harvard.CyanIdes Of March wrote:Anyone else get put into contact with a current HLS student? Mine went to my UG which is pretty neat.

So I'm definitely just lurking on this thread and don't even go here, but I highly recommend southeast Asia for extended amazing travel on the cheap.wtrc wrote:Finally writing my 250 and submitting that app; working full-time; doing a very part time thing too; relaxing; coming to terms with the fact that I actually got into HLS.
