Ah. I ended up deciding on the downtown Sheraton. It's the same price as Club Quarters (the hotel Penn recommended) but I get a bunch of Starwood points. As an added bonus, it's slightly closer to the location of the Friday night social. I'm guessing everyone will be fairly spread out.alex.cm wrote:I got a hotel room a block or two from the one in which they had rooms reserved - not exactly a cheap weekend to be in Philly, apparently, but I got a better deal than what they were offering.dubster101 wrote:Where is everyone planning on staying for ASW?

That's where i'll be as well - location looks good, Living Social was running a deal there if anyone is still looking (not sure if it's still there or not but worth checking...)dubster101 wrote:Ah. Wow, perfect! I'll shoot them a message tomorrow. Thanks! Can't decide where I want to be - University City v. Center City. Luckily I'm from Nj so only like a 45 min drive to check the places out hahaohpobrecito wrote:Welcome! I highly recommend university city housing. Question. I got the in call last Friday, but no emails or anything since. Have I missed anything important?

How does Penn distribute merit scholarship info? Does it ever come in the initial acceptance packet, or do you have to wait and, if so, how long approximately?

Re: UPenn Class of 2017
I don't think anyone has received it with their initial acceptance packet. I was accepted in January and haven't received anything except an invitation to apply for the Toll program. I think the consensus is that they making their named scholarship decisions soon and then will start sending out the general scholarships.Arrow4Christ wrote:How does Penn distribute merit scholarship info? For Toll at least, the e-mail said they would notify recipients in April, almost certainly sometime after April 8th. So I think the general scholarships may come out some time after that? Definitely doesn't sound good.

I just got my financial aid offer, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Mostly that I got an offer at all, but maybe it was my special circumstances? Hoping they'll give us some more updates on merit scholarships soon- I applied for Toll, and they're supposed to get back to us by tomorrow. Has anyone heard?

Question for all. If we don't accept a loan right now, is there anyway we can accept it later on? Maybe during the semester? Im trying to limit myself to only taking out the subsidized loans and the stafford and not take out the alternative loans. Any idea, and is anyone trying to do the same?
