For whatever it is worth, I'm only slightly over their last yr's 75th and GPA slightly below their 25th, but I still got a total of $30K... Not much, but at least it's a guaranteed 3-yr scholarship and not conditional like some other schools!kek5250 wrote:Lavitz wrote:I'm sure you'll be fine. They usually don't care about deadlines. oh dear god I'm happy you're awake! I can sleep tonight! Between the cost of moving up there then paying for the damn school, I'm telling you... panic mode.
Any word on who's getting $$? I was at median/75th LSAT, above 75th GPA. Anyone in the same boat care to share their experience? I'm not drowning in debt after undergrad (state school), but these numbers are HORRIFYING once you start crunching them.
Also, and I promise this is the last question, what on earth is the dress code for ASW? I can't figure out what one wears to go to a law school tour then to go out dancing...? Do I wear a loose dress OVER a tight one? then strip down as I run like superman? Maybe tearaway pants? or, if upstate NY is anything like central PA, a parka and earmuffs? Is it appropriate to wear wings of some sort? Perhaps carry a sword and drink out of a hollowed out horn?
sorry, it's late. but any answers anyone can provide would be great! Hope to meet you all soon, you seem like charming people and i'm excited.

Pretty excited about Cornell's financial offer, although a bit of the excitement faded when I realized that the scholarship was to be applied to a tuition that's already $60,000/year. If I were a law school dean, I would just set tuition at $70k and offer everyone a $15k/year scholarship at minimum. It sounds better that way.

FYI, I have the same exact stats as you and still haven't heard anything. People around our numbers seem to be getting like 10-15K a year. A lot of variation, though.kek5250 wrote:Lavitz wrote:I'm sure you'll be fine. They usually don't care about deadlines. As far as ASW goes, the one I attended this past weekend was basically business casual, but nobody really cared too much. Don't go sweatpants or full-on suit and I'm sure you'll be fine. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I'm in Upstate NY and still waiting for financial aid info. I sent all of my forms in about a week before the deadline, so this is odd.

I called today to ask about financial aid as well as dress code for ASW/ if they were available to help with off campus housing. A large batch of financial aid decisions will go out tomorrow or Thursday via snail mail and email, I was told!
So... you know. Brace yourselves.
Also, anyone who's going to ASW this weekend feel free to PM me!
See you all soon!

I really hope that I'm in the email group. This has been the worst wait of the entire LS application cycle for me.kek5250 wrote:I called today to ask about financial aid as well as dress code for ASW/ if they were available to help with off campus housing. I called too, and they told me I'm in a batch that's set to go out in 2-3 weeks. Submitted my paperwork late Februarydeputydog wrote:I really hope that I'm in the email group. I called yesterday as well and they gave me the same answer. I submitted my all the financial aid stuff about a day before it was due, mostly because I received my acceptance email only about two days before the deadline (When I called they said that since I had just received acceptance I had 2 weeks to send the documents but I decided to play it safe and send it all asap).kek5250 wrote:I called today to ask about financial aid as well as dress code for ASW/ if they were available to help with off campus housing. I certainly hope I am in the batch that is being sent out this week. Not knowing what financial aid I'm getting is torture.
Anyways, I will be flying to Ithaca this Thursday for ASW, see you guys there!

I'll also be attending the ASW this weekend (provided the ~14-15 hour drive goes well).

I'm (wishfully) hoping that was said to us in error. 2-3 weeks would be cutting it very close to their deposit deadline, not to mention other school's deadlines.

Very excited for Friday!
I hope you all hear back from financial aid soon, it's definitely difficult to make choices about all your school options when you don't even know the financial aid options for all the schools.

I haven't checked my mailbox yet, but I'm not optimistic. I'm probably going to have to double deposit.

Welcome Cron! (Could've sworn you were admitted awhile ago, but incase you weren't then congrats [or rather congrats again o_O] haha).
Could anyone that's received financial aid let me know whether or not their aid specifically mentioned if any part of it was need aid? If it's just a "scholarship", is it safe to assume it was merit only? Please pm if you don't feel comfortable posting here.
TYIA.
ETA: Is there a way we can find out if we got any need aid, like maybe even calling the office?
