Will definitely be there for the March ASW (and I live here, so I could probably come crash the April one as well if we have some kind of TLS meet up).

Has anyone who was admitted 1/24 or later received any merit scholarship info? I'm not sure if the 2-week deadline for announcing merit aid is also supposed to apply for people admitted near the end of Jan, and I'm starting to get worried!

So bummed that I haven't gotten any merit aid and thinking I likely will not.

Sorry if this isn't news to anyone, but this just blew my mind. I was looking at apts in Ann Arbor and:

I think LSAC should sue (or the other way around).

I was a U of M undergrad; loved Ann Arbor. Waiting on a decision for LS, but I can definitely answer any questions re: housing, night life, ann arbor in general, sports, beer, sports, beer, bars, or beer.

Fantastic beer pubs, two or three I can think of right away that have 90+ taps at least 4 micro-/craft breweries. All very walkable from where ever you are most likely going to live as well. Sports, I mean well, it's UMich.DrStudMuffin wrote:This made me happy/very optimistic about Ann Arbor.AceDeuces wrote:I was a U of M undergrad; loved Ann Arbor. Got in last week, super stoked to check into this thread.
Probably going to have to end up going to the early April ASW - is the best bet just to fly into DET and rent a car and drive from there?

Re: Michigan Class of 2017
Well, I mean at Michigan sports are huge. Even if you don't like sports, at least go to a game or two at the Big House. If you don't fall in love right away, you will at least have experienced being in the third largest stadium in the world. Basketball has also just exploded. Last year, my last in undergrad, I got in line for the IU basketball game at 4AM for a 6PM game. Not K-ville at Duke, but just to put it in perspective, my freshman year, they gave out free pizza to any student who stayed past halftime.anyriotgirl wrote:so how much am I going to have to learn to like sports?AceDeuces wrote:Fantastic beer pubs, two or three I can think of right away that have 90+ taps at least 4 micro-/craft breweries. BUT even if you don't like sports, the tailgating and pre-gaming atmosphere on home game Saturdays is unreal. The whole town is painted maize. It's indescribable. You just have to experience it. I had a number of friends who for one reason or another didn't go to the football games, but they still woke up at 6AM to pre-game. I'm sure the law school has it's own tailgate, though I admit I don't know where it is. The MBA program though has an insane tailgate that involves a bus that people dance on top of, so there's that.
However, Ann Arbor has so much going on. You really do not have to be a sports person at all to get lost in what the city has to offer. Plenty of people are not sports people and still love the city. If you find yourself for whatever reason in Ann Arbor over the summer (Summer Start perhaps?), the non-sports side of Ann Arbor is in full swing. Music, art, The Arb, whatever, there's tons of stuff. But I promise, even if you've never watched football before, you will love Michigan Football by the time you leave.
