Excellent!
Hey all, I've noticed a discrepancy relating to mandatory health paperwork. The letter that "constitutes official acceptance" indicates that health paperwork is a requirement for all students. However, the website it lists (
http://www.healthyhorns.utexas.edu/requ ... index.html) says this:
You are EXEMPT from this requirement and do not have to submit any documentation to University Health Services if: You are entering in January 2014 or thereafter and will be age 22 or older on the first day of classes of the semester in which you are entering.
That would include most of us (if we resemble the average age of incoming students). I'm inclined to believe the website. Does anyone know about this?
Thanks

As I suspected, the system thought I'd be an undergrad next year and blocked my LS finaid.
EDIT: Got that $3k grant

I emailed University Health Services about this exact issue a few months ago, and they confirmed that if we're over 22 when we enter, we're exempt from having to get the meningococcal vaccine, and don't have to provide any shot records to UHS.

Just some information I thought I would share regarding my experience with negotiating via the matching program.
I decided to send my request in last week and heard back a few days later via email with their new offer. Without being too specific for the sake of anonymity, the initial offer was larger than $25k total and their new offer was double the original. I didn't show them very many offers either, so for those of you contemplating whether to do the matching now, I would say that if you have a good offer elsewhere from a peer-ish school and you don't anticipate a better offer, you should do the matching now. And for your information, I am a nonresident applicant.

Any recommendations on timing for scholly negotiation emails? Before/after the deposit deadline? I applied later in the cycle so I'm still waiting to hear back from NU, which is really only relevant with $$. (No initial merit offer from UT)
*Have multiple +50% offers from T20s & T30 with larger offers

I'm similar. Held at NU and multiple similar offers but with a low offer to UT. I'm planning on sending mine in after the deadline since I have a few more peer schools I'm still waiting to hear from.

Do you think waiting until after the seat deposit affects their decision-making at all?

I think it'll free up money from those who decide that debt at T14>$ at Texas, possibly leading to slightly more generosity. This is all pure speculation though.

Deposited today, and planning to matriculate. I had also deposited at USC, but their 2013 employment stats and general employment trends scared me away. Plus, there has to be something to be said for going to the best school in a big state rather than the 4th best school in a bigger (and more saturated) state.
Looking forward to 3 years of Austin.

Current 1L here. Happy to answer any questions y'all might have, although I don't check the thread super frequently. Feel free to send a PM, though, if there's anything I can help with.

Regarding scholarship matching, I want to address a common thought based on my experiences.
they are very stingy with schools below UCLA/Vandy and don't even match Cornell or GTown
This is not always true.

Thanks, I'll get back to you guys about where I submitted, what the offers were, and how UT responded after they respond.

No, it is a unique situation where I'm exempt from tuition expenses. I was only really offered $7,000/year, so I'm trying to get matched so I can get it kicked up to cover my COL.
