How late? Public transit closes pretty early in this area. If you get stranded, you apparently have my number.

Oh, that's fine. AirBART goes until about midnight.

Ok that's great. Worst case scenario I'll give you a call, thanks

I'm headed to Berkeley this afternoon :D

I hope to talk to many current students (and I also have a meeting scheduled with finaid), but if any current students are perusing this thread, I've got a few questions: Is anyone out there paying sticker or close to it with the intention of going into PI? How do you feel about that? Did anyone pass up big offers elsewhere for Berk? Any insight would be wonderful. I'm really trying to keep Berkeley in the running, but... it's hard.

I tried to search this topic, but couldn't find the relevant thread, but if someone can link me, that would be much appreciated.

Okay, is it just me, or is the ASW calendar of events heeecka disorganized? For Friday I just see a million different student group open houses to go to, after "Admit Day 8:45am to 4pm, Breakfast, Welcome, Mock Class, Lunch, Break Out Sessions (including, Finacial Aid and LRAP), Tours, Student Activities Fair."

What I want to know is the schedule of how that 8:45am to 4pm is going down and how structured or open-ended it will be... But I guess we'll find out when we get there?

And is Saturday just a bunch of different student group activities?

Not really feeling it... Other schools' ASWs seemed much better planned...

As long as they tell me all about the subtleties of LRAP, I'm fine if the rest of it is a total cluster event.
It's the west coast, it's laid back, don't plan, man, just do what feels groovy.

Haha, tooooo trueeee. As a Berkeley undergrad alumna, I was like, "This feels familiar. "

Maybe this lifelong Californian is ready for New York, baby! eta: And/or working at a law firm is solidifying the J in my ENTJ.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I am looking forward to the drinking part. I only wish I had time to check out San Francisco...

Same here. I checked MyFinAid page last night and it says My Gift Aid is $0.00

I got an email on March 27 saying I was ineligible for need-based aid, but that I still might be eligible for merit-based aid. (I am at their 75th percentile LSAT and >75 GPA).

"Gift Aid," according to the website is both merit AND need based. I called financial aid and they didn't answer (probably preparing for ASW).

Do you think this means my merit-aid has been applied and I just didn't get anything?
Who do I ask there? I am going to ASW and meeting with a Fin Aid officer, but they aren't in charge of merit-based scholarships, are they?

I just emailed the admits@berkeley email about it because I'm coming up to some deposit deadlines and still haven't heard anything in regard to merit $$

I'm in the same situation as you with the same stats. I haven't been successful in calling the FinAid office. I had a meeting with a FinAid officer when I visited, but they couldn't tell me anything about merit-based scholarships. Can you please keep us updated on what you find out? I wonder if all the merit-based scholarships are out already or not.

I think I'm going to skip ASD tomorrow because I want to save my vacation days at work and I already went there for undergrad. Let me know if something awesome happens.

Check out the FB group. Apparently they're going to tell us where to go for Bar Review. Yayyyyy!

Also, if it looks like there's nothing to on Saturday... CHEESEBOARD IS A THING WE COULD DO.

Thanks for the bar review tip!
And YES, DO CHEESEBOARD. IT MUST BE HAD. BY ALL. I'm heading there with some old college friends - it was the first thing I planned.

eta: Then check out Philz Coffee down the street for the best coffee ever (this is a truth universally acknowledged), and Gregoire on Shattuck and Cedar for some deliiiiiicious potato puffs. Trust me. I'm a pro. (No.)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
