Their policy is to not negotiate. That said, if you have a compelling reason why you think you deserve more money coupled with a compelling reason why you want to be at Vandy, I doubt sending them an email articulating that would be completely without effect. That said, I'd send it in April.PrideandGlory1776 wrote:Does anyone know if Vanderbilt negotiates with its scholarships? I've heard there one of the few that does not. Can anyone confirm that?

Well if you went ahead and sent something, it probably isn't the end of the world, as long as you had good reasons like I mentioned. I think what they don't want is people bouncing offers back and forth between them and other schools. I only suggested waiting until April because by then they'll have a better idea of their yield.Caroa1992 wrote:Ha whoops...arklaw13 wrote:Their policy is to not negotiate. I don't know how you guys manage to deal with this stuff....I don't even like it when my roommate gets the mail because I'm paranoid about something accidentally getting considered trash.Jessasaurus wrote:Yeah...... My parents did not do me a solid on this one. I don't even know how they managed to throw it out...
What a bummer :/ Hopefully you'll know what you got soon!

Received my letter in D.C. today, but I think due to the weather it was meant to be received yesterday. Chancellor's Scholarship with the 5K first-summer stipend, for a total of 110K. On par with what I was expecting. Though I love the thought of 110K less debt, I'm not convinced it outweighs the benefits of CCN even at sticker.

Checking in, accepted awhile back. And I haven't. I'm kinda worried. Vandy was my top, but can't afford to pay sticker. Is this normal?Jules239 wrote:Just checked the mail and I still haven't gotten my letter. Has anyone else not recieved theirs?

I'm wondering the same thing. Nothing here but I have been having a lot of trouble with mail delivery lately. The person I spoke to in admissions said they could email it to me Friday if I still hadn't received anything.ktatl14 wrote:Checking in, accepted awhile back. And I haven't. I'm kinda worried. Has anyone received something saying they didn't get a scholarship? How does that work?

Depends on your target market. Any idea where you want to end up?mylifeis24 wrote:Received my letter in D.C. today, but I think due to the weather it was meant to be received yesterday. I received my scholarship offer in the mail today and was in the two day range. Solid 80K. Definitely makes Vanderbilt a player for me. Stats are in my profile.

Goals aren't set yet, but definitely NY or DC for public interest, criminal or appellate litigation work. Plan is to clerk immediately following school and see where the road takes me from there.arklaw13 wrote:Depends on your target market. Wouldn't pick your school based on wanting to clerk since you'll need great grades no matter where you go (outside HYS). For NYC I'd pick CCN over Vandy, although Cornell with 100k off isn't a bad choice either. DC is a crapshoot because you'll need great grades wherever. If you want to start out PI after possibly clerking, I'd do CCN. Generally, if you have no interest in the Southeast, I'd pick CCN over Vandy.mylifeis24 wrote:Goals aren't set yet, but definitely NY or DC for public interest, criminal or appellate litigation work. Those were my thoughts as well. Here's to hoping I don't end up paying sticker at CCN!arklaw13 wrote:Wouldn't pick your school based on wanting to clerk since you'll need great grades no matter where you go (outside HYS). I've heard that you receive a letter regardless, even if the amount is $0.mattyice122 wrote:I'm wondering the same thing. 110k! Definitely not bad, but 15k a year in tuition alone still doesn't sound fantastic.

Who else is excited to call tomorrow morning to ask for the email version of the letter?!
At least now I know the wait is (allegedly) going to be less than a day!

I received an email earlier today from VLS that included the following:
Their first email could have been worded better to avoid this confusion.
Those of you that have not received award letters yet, did you submit a FAFSA? I am in this group, so it looks like I'll need to wait another week or so.Financial Aid Award Notices will be mailed late next week (USPS) to admitted students who have submitted a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

I'm not sure if this includes scholarships or just tells you your loan eligibility. Did anyone who filled out FAFSA already recieve their scholarships??gta wrote:I received an email earlier today from VLS that included the following:
