PS any actual new yorkers in here lamenting how both teams got destroyed today?
It's been a bad year for NY sports... sigh.
Was really hoping to see an NY team in the Super Bowl. Little did I know how unrealistic a hope that would be!

Awesome

! When does your post-admission status checker say that your package was mailed (i.e. should I be spazzing and running out to check my mailbox right now?)
Edit: Never mind. I just got it!

The packet is mainly the website in paper form + a sticker. But I like to leave the folder on my desk and when ever my gaze falls on it I'm suddenly pretty happy.

They could mail me just the sticker and I would be happy.

I think they sent out the most recent batch in a blob. There were a couple of people who got theirs the same day as me (yesterday), but were accepted 1 or more days after me. It was USPS Priority Mail, so if you live further away that might explain its current absence (Midwest here).

Are there any Boston locals who can recommend a good cell phone carrier? I'll be moving to the area from Europe and will be picking up a new phone/contract. I would expect Verizon > ATT > T-Mobile. Sound right?

That is my take but I'm not from Boston.

Has anyone submit their attendance notice yet? Is there any reason why one should or should not submit it if they are 99.9% certain this is the school they want to attend?
Also, I want to let them know I plan on attending, but I sort of want to leave a couple applications open, in case my financial aid package ends up being terrible. The form makes it sound like you should withdraw your other apps, but the lines where you can list open applications makes it seem like maybe it's okay to leave a couple open, as long as you disclose..? Anyone have any idea what the protocol is here?

The way I read it was that if you are waiting on an actual decision (either due to a waitlist or because you simply haven't been accepted yet) then you can put those schools down and select to attend them if you are later admitted. However merely waiting on financial aid isn't allowable.
Harvard wrote:I agree to inform all law schools to which I have been offered admission that I decline their offers and will relinquish my place in their incoming classes....I will notify HLS Admissions of my plans as soon as I receive a decision on any outstanding applications.
This seems to preclude waiting on aid decisions. If it is just Harvard's aid you are waiting on then I would just wait until they give you your aid package before signing the form.

Ah, okay, so this is sort of a "if I get into this other school, I'm definitely going to go there" disclosure? K, so that would not apply in this case. Blargh, may just go ahead and submit the form.. So excited! X)

I think it's more of a "if I get admitted to Stanford or Yale, I
might not attend Harvard" kind of form but yes essentially
Honestly, you really can't go wrong no matter if you commit to Harvard right now or wait to sign the form. But I completely get where you are coming from; ever since my HLS acceptance, I have been so impatient to hear back from SLS so I can know where I am going next fall.

Do you think you'd go with Stanford over Harvard?

I have an unhealthy obsession with Stanford, so yeah, probably. I'd have to go to both ASWs to see for sure but probably. Also, SLS does a little better for my intended career path. If I get rejected from SLS, I'll still be ridiculously happy with Harvard of course and my excitement over this acceptance hasn't died down at all.

Thanks!! It finally came today. The note from Dean Soban is a nice touch.

I sent it in, and kinda wish I hadn't. I'm also waiting on finaid, but will probably end up at HLS. However, their e-mails since I sent it in have made it sound like I'm definitely going there next year. I think it's just going to make it more difficult to withdraw later if that's what I need to do.

If you're not 100% committed to HLS, there is no reason to submit the form early. While there may be loopholes to get out of it, you are essentially telling HLS that you intend to enroll there in the fall. I plan to hold out until I hear back from all my top schools then send the commit/withdraw letters in at once.

This was my thought process as well, especially after reading this article:
http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2013/ ... s-deposit/
Since that form previously would have required a seat deposit, and also based on Dean Soban's comment in the article above about reserving a spot and not enrolling, I'll be waiting until I have a better financial picture.

I'm definitely leaning more and more towards Harvard every day, but +1 to waiting until there's a better financial picture. It's still really early in the admissions cycle. Most people haven't even applied yet. Personally, I haven't even heard back from half of the schools that I applied to and I'm also on a wait list (in December which is crazy) for one of my top choices.

Woah, what? Was it an ED or Duke's PT or something similar? Why would a school waitlist this early?
But +1 to waiting for financial aid decisions.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
