Has anyone who's received an aid letter this weekend/today submitted their form this month?

That's insane. How do they determine aid? Do they heavily weight parent's incomes?vicpin5190 wrote:I got my aid letter, but no scholi
Not surprising at all though, i guess....
I really thought they were great with aid, especially for URMs. Sorry to hear this.

Did anyone w/ these six-figure aid letters choose merit only?

I chose both merit- and need-based aid.

For what it's worth - I chose merit only, and still haven't turned in that Cornell Fin Aid Questionnaire thing. Received 150k scholly last week. PM for stats.

Which form? This one? If so, then how'd you choose merit only?Synch wrote:For what it's worth - I chose merit only, and still haven't turned in that Cornell Fin Aid Questionnaire thing. Received 150k scholly last week. PM for stats.

Apologies if I'm wrong about this, but I believe I selected merit only on my need access application for Cornell. But, as I said, I haven't sent in that form that you linkedSplitMyPants wrote:Which form? This one? With regards to scholarship negotiations, should I send an email to the financial aid office or straight to admissions?

$0 in needs-access despite serious financial hardship and less than 10k per year in merit scholarship - to say I'm underwhelmed would do violence to the word underwhelmed. Disgusted. Going to wait 48 hours and then send a follow-up email to see if I can't get the needs-access increased if not will be withdrawing by week's end. Good luck all.

Really sorry to hear this. I wonder if they consider parental income more or as heavily as student's income.PrideandGlory1776 wrote:$0 in needs-access despite serious financial hardship and less than 10k per year in merit scholarship - to say I'm underwhelmed would do violence to the word underwhelmed. I don't get this. I thought they combined the two awards. How do you differentiate what need based and what merit aid you got?PrideandGlory1776 wrote:$0 in needs-access despite serious financial hardship and less than 10k per year in merit scholarship - to say I'm underwhelmed would do violence to the word underwhelmed. Re: Cornell Class of 2017 (Now with $$$$)
Oh ok maybe it was needsaccess then I suppose - I just assumed needsaccess grants were substantial amounts - my numbers are above both medians so I just figured that just on the basis of merit my scholarship grant would be at least 25% tuition worst case scenario like 15-20% but I was severely wrong. That's fine though would have loved Ithaca but I know things happen for a reason and part of the process of overcoming disappointment is accepting the things you cannot change and resolving to change the things that are in your power to change. Best of luck to you all!

Sorry should have updated this sooner. Got the letter last Friday, I had sent in my financial aid form and taxes in late February.
Low double digit merit aid, about what I was expecting, but still a little disappointed.

Re: Cornell Class of 2017 (Now with $$$$)
Hello all. I'm slightly above LSAT 75% and around GPA median. I hope I can get at least a 30k scholarship that would put me under the 100k debt mark 0,0 -- I have 50k saved away and parents willing to comp living expenses
congrats to those who have been accepted, and encouragement to you all who are now facing the final boss: finaid.
