That being said, my letter from NYU (pulled from the studentloans.gov website, after logging in) says that my Fed Direct Loan and Direct Plus Loan will be disbursed on AUGUST 18th. Um... how am I going to pay for housing (Mercer)??

I'm finally checking in here after taking a break from TLS since April! When do we find out roommate assignments? I'm in D'Agostino Hall.

Edit: Nevermind, just checked. They found out in Mid June it's August and we still haven't gotten it

Also, my impression was that we're only responsible for whatever part of our bill that financial aid doesn't cover - if you don't owe out of pocket for Mercer then you should be okay. Unless you're doing private loans?

Not yet, but hopefully we'll know more soon. The topics do sound pretty cool and I definitely like the idea of getting to know faculty in a more informal setting!

Does anyone know if we need to bring a shower curtain? Or window curtains?

I read somewhere that shower curtains are already there. Not sure about window coverings.

Does anyone know NYU's C/O 2017 stats (medians, class size, etc), perhaps from ASW sources? It seems like the C/O 2017 Facebook group is abnormally small compared to peer schools (fewer members than the 2017 groups of both Columbia and Penn, both schools with classes typically smaller than NYU's). Could this mean NYU is shrinking its class size for 17ers?

To anyone thinking of renting their books: I saved around $250 renting 4 books through Amazon and received them in two days. Two of them were in good condition (a few of the pages had marks) the other two were heavily highlighted/written in. You get a full refund if you send them back within 30 days, so I plan to do that and see if I can get some new ones shipped out in better condition.

Behind a couple days on the discussion 'cause of dumb dental problems, but I bought all my books on Amazon/Ebay and spent $370. Three have come already and they're a little marked up, but I don't write in my books and the notes don't bother me. I did this all through college and it always saved me a ton. Just make sure to search by the ISBN, and you'll get the right addition.

Ooh I feel really behind, wasn't even thinking about getting books for a week. Are you just taking the course numbers and looking them up at NYU bookstore for the ISBN #s? I also need to buy a new laptop before school starts. Thinking about the macbook air especially since I'll be commuting from off campus.

You can look up the books by your student ID number as well! Just ordered mine yesterday on Amazon.

I got a new laptop as well - debated getting the Air but ended up getting a Lenovo instead.
