Yeah that was it. Satchel/computer bag (you got to pick) and a water bottle.
And a lot of free food and alcohol while we were there as well if that counts.

I agree with B-D, but not so much A. NYUs COA is already like 15k or something higher than UChis over 3 years and when you add in the extra 45k from the ruby stipend I seriously seriously doubt that NYU gives you NYC odds worth 60k extra than us unless you have very narrow practice area/firm interests that don't show up to our OCI.Canof09 wrote:I am kinda curious though to hear some opinions... what would you guys choose between: Ruby or Jacobson or Levy or HYS at $$$Ruby except possibly Y, but probably still the Ruby. The COL stipend blows the other full-rides out of the water, IMO.
The only reason I would pass on the Ruby is if I was absolutely set on:
A.) Living and practicing in NYC, take the Jacobson at NYU
B.) Living and practicing in Pennsylvania, take the Levy at Penn
C.) Going in to politics, go to Harvard
D.) Being a judge, go to Yale
Short of being 100% about any of these I would take the Ruby. No debt and a law degree from one of the best law schools around? Not a bad deal.
Very first world problem to be in though and you obviously can't go wrong, only more or less right. Congrats on the options

Also, the Jacobson is UPTO full ride, but not necessarily. Many people have reported less $.2014 wrote:I agree with B-D, but not so much A. How much is the yearly Rubenstein stipend?
I think AnBryce > Ruby due to the network. Also, apparently all of the AnBryce scholars who wanted 1L SA got it.

As I mentioned in the NYU thread, the RTK would have been a contender against the Ruby for network reasons. But at the end of the day I don't think it's worth this significant bump in debt. It's still possible that I'll end up in NYC for family reasons, but very unlikely.

I was leaning towards Stanford before the Ruby offer, but now I'm not sure. I don't have any undergrad debt and it would be amazing to graduate law school debt free as well. I'm still going to attend all of the ASWs I signed up for, but a school is going to have to work really hard if it wants me to choose it over Chicago now.Ren wrote:I think my softs are solid, but very far from godly. And I have no idea what I will end up doing! Tbh I originally had no intention of going to UChicago (due to location preferences), so this is a huge shock to my cycle. I am still in the running for the Jacobson and the Levy, and I haven't heard back from Yale. So I am waiting for all the chips to fall.t-14orbust wrote:sounds like you have some godly softs. thanks for the follow-up. Congrats on all the Ruby's!
Does anyone know if Chicago (or Columbia or any other school) would increase a merit scholarship if I took the June LSAT and did better? I think it could help me if I get WL'd at HYS, but it would be nice to have the possibility of a larger merit scholarship if I get a better score.

I think they would be amenable but it really depends how many funds are available, how full the class is at that point, and how well you sell "I will not go to law school next year unless you up my aid" since by then you can't credibly threaten to bounce to another school.

Fair point. I'm not sure why I listed that one first because that is the one I am least confident about as well. I could see someone being willing to accept the additional debt in order to live & network in NYC if that's where they wanted to live and practice, but at the end of the day you're correct. That's a win-win scenario.

Question: How long did it take between receiving your acceptance email and getting your package in the mail?
I've been accepted since that wave on Feb. 25th, but nothing in the mailbox yet!
Thanks!

Gotcha. Thanks for the feedback! That is probably the most likely response, I believe there were a lot of admission offers that day.KatyMarie wrote:Gotcha. Thanks for the feedback! Hey everyone - did any non-Ruby offers come out for financial aid? I was thinking I'd see something by now.

They are probably just trying to find another full-named-scholly to give you.lastsamurai wrote:Hey everyone - did any non-Ruby offers come out for financial aid? I was thinking I'd see something by now.

But no, I haven't noticed anything. I think they said you'd see something within a month of admission?

Nope. Initial finaid packages are supposed to be released soon, and someone (I'm sorry, I forgot your username but I know your Doc Brown avatar) cited some inside info suggesting Friday is the day.lastsamurai wrote:Hey everyone - did any non-Ruby offers come out for financial aid? Thanks bom - I'll give it a little more time since I think I just missed their priority NeedAccess deadline, but it's been about 6 weeks since admission for me.barrelofmonkeys wrote:They are probably just trying to find another full-named-scholly to give you.lastsamurai wrote:Hey everyone - did any non-Ruby offers come out for financial aid?
