Re: UPenn Class of 2017
Ahh it blows that I won't be able to go to ASW or Penn Preview. I will be going 2 weeks after Penn Preview, that reminds me that I should email them about that.
Also this is kind of an odd question, but I'm flying in from overseas in April mainly to visit Penn and look at some apartments, but since I'm flying half way around the world I'm obviously going to stay for a while and meet some friends nearby. Do you think I could get some compensation on airfare from Penn? I know they offer it (I think up to $200), but I feel odd asking because it's kinda like I'm asking them to contribute to my vacation.

Also looking at ASW, the travel reimbursement policy states that it is for situations where travel will present an "uncommonly demanding financial burden" Does anyone know what the threshold is for this?

I went for a visit a few weeks ago and received one. They don't ask for any personal information or anything, so I think it's just a way of minimizing potential costs.Optimist Prime wrote:Also looking at ASW, the travel reimbursement policy states that it is for situations where travel will present an "uncommonly demanding financial burden" Does anyone know what the threshold is for this?

Great, thanks! I was concerned that my rational of "I want to spend that money on law school tuition" was not "uncommon".ohpobrecito wrote:I went for a visit a few weeks ago and received one. Anyone sign up for the NYC reception at Skadden? Sounds cool, but just chilling and blending in at ASW also seems like it might be a good idea...

Anyone hear back about fin aid? How long did it generally take you? Is there a tracker? I never received anything from Penn saying they received my need access or fafsa ect.

Just registered for ASW. Is everyone planning on staying at the recommended hotel (Club Quarters or whatever it's called)?

Checking in! Penn's my first choice out of the schools I've gotten into so far. Just got flight and hotel booked for ASW (+a couple days).

up to $200 so I assume we'd get all $200 all the way from CA.hellomellow wrote:thank you! does anyone know if penn provides any money for ASW? It's far away from CA........ohpobrecito wrote:Welcome! I love your tarhellomellow wrote:HELLO. I got the call an hour ago!

up to $100 if traveling within the Northeast, otherwise up to $200. Only covers transportation, not lodging.mellow wrote:up to $200 so I assume we'd get all $200 all the way from CA.hellomellow wrote:thank you! does anyone know if penn provides any money for ASW? Bleh, 200 would barely cover airfare. -__-

Their website says they start sending out financial aid awards in march, so it's probably still too early.ohpobrecito wrote:The past two nights I've had dreams about financial aid.

I know I know. I had my hopes up for this week because last year the first offers were extended on 2/25. Agreed. Waiting for financial aid certainly beats waiting for the phone call thoughohpobrecito wrote:I know I know.
