The pic of the glass, modernish looking area is outside of the Purcell Reading Room... really underrated spot imo.
Also, I didn't take a pic but Scott Commons is a really nice spot (on the inside). There's a ton of natural light and it feels really open. It gets crowded around lunch, but it's probably my favorite area in the school.

Welcome to UVa! I am sure you all will like your experience in Charlottesville, inside and outside the law school.
I am a 2L male law student at UVa and I am looking for a male roommate at Jeffersonian Apartment, two-minute away from the law school. The lease is from June 1, 2014 to May 31, 2015. The following is the web page for the apartment complex:
http://www.jeffersonianapartments.com/j ... _List.html
BTW, I am a non-smoker, gym rat, library dweller, and an easy-going guy. Most weekends I will NOT stay at the apartment. PM me if you have any question about the school or the roommate ad.
Wish you all the best!

I'm looking for a roommate
I'm going to be a female 1L and I want to live relatively close to campus in either a two bedroom or three bedroom place. I have an adorable puppy (my avatar) and an indoor cat. I'm a relatively quiet studious person but I still like to go out on the weekends. I'm pretty tidy and a non smoker. I'm most interested in the Arlington Park Town homes. Shoot me a message if you think we might be a good fit

Hi All,
Congratulations on being accepted to UVA Law! It is a great place and you should be excited for the three exciting years ahead of you!
I am a current 3L at UVA. I wanted to post about the apartment that I am currently in, in case anyone is interested.
I live in the closest apartment possible to the law school (literally). I am in a 1 bedroom apartment in the Arlington Court Condos. I have lived in this apartment all three years, and if I were not graduating this year, I would live in it again! The location simply can't be beat. The rent is $750/month (plus utilities), and that includes an assigned parking spot. The unit is a lower level unit and there is a patio-type area outside. The apartment is a nice size (I think it is around 700 sqft). The landlord is great! She is an independent landlord, so there is no hassle of dealing with a housing management company. I have never had any problems with the landlord. The condo association is also great--they clean any leaves in fall and clear and salt the steps to the apartment in snow/ice.
The apartment is available for rent beginning June 1. I am planning on leaving some of my furniture (bed, small shelf, maybe a coffee table or two) in the apartment for the next tenant if they would like it. Feel free to send me a PM if you would like to get in touch with the landlord.

Re: UVA Class of 2017
Hello all,
I am looking for a roommate as well!. I am an incoming male 1L looking to live in a 2 bedroom (possibly a 3 bedroom). I am down for anything within walking distance of the grounds. I don't have any pets, but dogs are awesome. I plan on buckling down on the books, but having a little fun as well. I do not smoke. I try to go to the gym every day. If this sounds like a good fit, shoot me a message!
Cheers!

Hey everyone, happy to say I was admitted last week! Congrats to all the other admits! Anyone have any estimates for how long it typically takes to receive the admitted packet?

I think mine took 4 or 5 biz days, they ship it first class so shouldn't be more than that... Congrats!SteelPenguin wrote:Hey everyone, happy to say I was admitted last week! Congrats to all the other admits! Anyone have any estimates for how long it typically takes to receive the admitted packet?

Ended up getting it today! The letter said schollies begin to come in mud Jan, but should I hold out hope for a future email? I'm grateful to have just been accepted, but every little bit helps.McGruff wrote:I think mine took 4 or 5 biz days, they ship it first class so shouldn't be more than that... I haven't heard of any money coming out yet. There was a discrepancy between the online information and info in the admissions packet. Hoping for February/March.SteelPenguin wrote:Ended up getting it today! The letter said schollies begin to come in mud Jan, but should I hold out hope for a future email? In my acceptance email Dugas mentioned early March for financial info. I imagine it is different for everyone, however, based on your timeline.

Hey, how are people going about housing? They have some awesome new apartments. I'm 24 and a guy. I'm interested in getting a double in the North Grounds or the Flats. Bigger spaces, and half the rent. So, PM me if you're interested in setting up your housing early.

I wasn't at first (I think you and I talked about this), but I think the advantages first year are too hard to turn down. Not that living further away will put you at a disadvantage necessarily.Gooner91 wrote:Is everybody trying to live close to the school?

I wanna be close because I hate commutes. I currently live three minutes away from my work and I want to be able to come home easily during the day to let my dog out

What's rent like down there, any idea? Just got accepted earlier this week, very excited! I can definitely picture my two pups and me walking around Charlottesville.

Re: UVA Class of 2017
Look at all the dog talk
. I have two myself, and have the same reason (wanting to be able to go let them out during the day in between classes). Rent can be really inexpensive all the way up to outrageously expensive, just depends how picky you are. On the OP there is a link to an off-grouds housing search for the law school that may be helpful for you. Congrats by the way!

If anyone is interested in living in Ivy this year, pm me if you're looking for a roommate. I'm officially on the hunt.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
