32 teams are divided into groups of four. Within each group, all of the teams play head-to-head and are awarded three points for a win and one point for a draw. Contenders: (IMHO)
Spain has dominated the major international tournaments for the last decade, but it is an aging squad, and likely out of peak form. One can't count out the reigning champs, however.
Germany is a force to be reckoned with. Its core players are in their prime and have World Cup experience. Unfortunately, Germany landed in the Group of Death with Portugal, USA, and Ghana, which could dampen its chances for a long run. But I like Germany nonetheless.
Brazil, as the host nation and a traditional football power, should definitely be vying for the Cup late into the tournament.
