Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Brave mailman came to DC today despite the blizzard! I'm an idiot and didn't realize there was a separate application for full rides (oops), but wouldn't have gotten one anyway; sub-median GPA and above 75th LSAT. Very happy w/ chancellor's scholarship. Congrats to those who've heard and good luck to everyone waiting!

Pretty underwhelmed.
Got less than people with identical numbers so I don't know what's wrong with me.

Vanderbilt gave me a very very generous scholarship package. Pulled them from being out of contention to being right back in the mix.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a Law Scholars Merit Award ITT yet. Did many of y'all apply?

I've been wondering about this too. I wonder if they have been decided yet. I would have expected some to be reported on LSN.SplitMyPants wrote:I'm surprised there hasn't been a Law Scholars Merit Award ITT yet. Did many of y'all apply?

There's only three or four each year so there might not be any posters.SplitMyPants wrote:I'm surprised there hasn't been a Law Scholars Merit Award ITT yet. Did many of y'all apply?

I think there are a handful. I did.
I heard from someone else that they heard from a 1L (a bit removed obviously, so I definitely wouldn't take this as fact) that Vanderbilt sends out the regular merit offers, and then later notifies Law Scholar recipients. So just because you got an offer in the mail that said 100K for instance doesn't mean you won't end up getting offered the Law Scholar award once they begin making those awards.
At least I think that is what they meant...?

Oh wow. I knew it was highly competitive, but I didn't realize it was that small of a group.arklaw13 wrote:There's only three or four each year so there might not be any posters.SplitMyPants wrote:I'm surprised there hasn't been a Law Scholars Merit Award ITT yet. Did many of y'all apply?

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
That might have been me. That was my experience, but I can't say if that is the norm or not. As with many schools, kids that initially receive full rides often choose to go higher ranked schools instead. In that case, they offer it to other applicants. I doubt I was a first-round law scholar pick.OliveBC wrote:SplitMyPants wrote:I'm surprised there hasn't been a Law Scholars Merit Award ITT yet. Did many of y'all apply?

Oh, interesting. Since the Law Scholars website said "typically notified in Feb" I just assumed they came out at the same time.OliveBC wrote:SplitMyPants wrote:I'm surprised there hasn't been a Law Scholars Merit Award ITT yet. Did many of y'all apply?

So.. In other words someone should take one for the team and ask if they've been decided.. (I'm only half joking here)SplitMyPants wrote:Oh, interesting. EDIT- Oops, didn't notice that Arklaw had already posted him/herself. That's where my information was from. Sounds like there's still hope for those of us who applied for Law Scholars!

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Alright guys, I posted in the choosing a law school section but wanted to get your thoughts. With no undergrad debt and spouse covering COL (assuming she can get a job), which would you take?
Vandy: $90K tuition
Wake Forest: $10K tuition
Pretty much down to these two for me. Feel free to PM me if you have more insight, or if you just don't want to side-track this thread.
