SO unfortunately I will not be able to attend ASW. However I am planning to go out their on my own in about a month or so.
This may be a bit of a petty question but some people are advising me to contact the school before I go to visit but I am not sure what to say in the email. Is there something I need to make sure I do when I am out there that I am just overlooking? Do I need to arrange a tour with them beforehand? Who do you guys recommend I try to meet with?

I ran into the same problem regarding not being able to attend ASW. I just contacted the admissions office and said that I was really excited to visit but that I would not be able to attend ASW based on my schedule. It looks like it might be better to visit on a Friday according to http://www.law.virginia.edu/html/about/visit.htm since they have a couple of extra things planned on that day. The admissions folks were very accommodating and after I begged for a travel subsidy they even said I could have one without attending ASW.

Financial aid comes after you turn in fafsa/need access merit aid is on a different schedule this cycle. Last cycle it was at the time admissions was offered. This cycle, it starts mid-January and runs through the end of the cycle.

Anyone who has them in by mid-February should have a complete financial aid package by the end of March.

Don't. There is an excess of housing re: students in the area. If I recall you own a house though and are trying to sell it... that's its own can of worms, but finding a place to live isn't very hard.

Anecdote, but a friend got in off of the waitlist pretty late in the game and got a place on Arlington (not Pav or Jeff) for a good price. While people will bitch about Ivy/Pav, all in all they're not bad places, and if you end up with one of those you'll be fine, and there is PLENTY of places further away from the grounds.

Also, we're getting snow here today, so I may walk up to the law school later and post some pics of it all snow-covered if you guys want.

Yeah, I've been touring places around the area for the last couple of weekends. Right now thinking that I will end up on Arlington, will probably know for sure next Monday.

We're dying in NOVA with the snow. Wouldn't be so bad if Virginians knew how to drive in the weather a little better, but I'll probably be getting out of work soon to try and beat the rush. Can't wait to see the pictures.
