St. George in Staten Island. About a 50 minute commute by bike and ferry. Just closed on a two bedroom to move in July. Very excited.
oOo sweet! You going to lock up at Tisch? Fellow bike commuter here.
If that's the most convenient place, I've never gone to NYU. I'm definitely looking forward to the commute though. The ferry is free and comfortable and then it's a straight shot up the park on the west side. You're coming over the Williamsburg Bridge right? That's a great ride, but the traffic on the other side will be lively. I look forward to meeting you and everyone else.
Tisch has a huge bicycle parking lot, I think I'm gonna try locking up there. If not, I'm sure there's plenty of other spots. Are you taking the Greenway? That's always awesome to bike.
Not doing the WillyB, though I used to when I lived in Bushwick. I'll be taking the Manhattan. Tried the Brooklyn Bridge, utter pedestrian chaos.

See you all soon.

Tisch it is. And yes on the Greenway. It seems like a lot of people are already in the city. I wonder how many are newcomers and how many have already lived there for awhile.
I had not heard about the bouldering walls at Coles. I just looked up the facilities online. Very impressive. I doubt they'll be much time to use them, but it's nice to know there's the opportunity. I had to look up natatorium.

Yeah, where is everyone coming from? NYC here, since early 2010.

Also, is anyone reading any LS stuff this summer? Heard that Planet Law School and Getting to Maybe are pretty good...

Is anyone interested in getting together in August before orientation? I can't allow myself to go into orientation without a single acquaintance. I'm what they call "a social idiot."

I would be, but I need to figure out if/how I can move in early if I'm living in the dorms. I definitely don't want to wait until the 20th!

I'm from Texas. There have been two different snakes in my yard today, so I'm definitely looking forward to living in a snake-free environment.

I'd be down for a meet-up. My mom's from New York and her whole family is still there, so I'll be staying with them for a little bit before dorm move in.
Demand and/or dates for a meet-up could be a good poll option?

Also excited considering NYU doesn't have as much lay prestige in the MidWest as it does in other parts of the country and I'm getting sick of explaining where I'm going to law school

This is too true. The only person who has ever gotten excited about my law school was from the East Coast.

I don't know if this has been asked before but is anyone else coming straight from undergrad?

I know, right!? The last thing I've seen on TV with someone going to NYU was the show Girls with the notoriously dumb character be the butt of jokes since she's like in her late 20s and still in NYU undergrad so even that gives us a bad rep

I'd be absolutely down to meet up, although I am living in D'ag so I might be moving in the 20th. TLS meetup at Phillys before official orientation?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
