Yea I was familiar with the policy (which seemed super lame). But if policy is lax as mentioned above, then I don't think living in the dorms is a bad deal... that is, besides the all consuming, price to space ratio.barrelofmonkeys wrote:I think we're going to have to take the question to current students to get an idea of how it actually plays out in practice, but the policy is below. Doesn't sound much like dorm life.
NYU wrote:Visitors must be announced from the Front Desk or present a Guest Pass. Residents may have overnight guests but, in fairness to your neighbors and any apartmentmates, you must follow some established rules. You must be in attendance at all times when you have a guest. You may have overnight guests for a total of no more than seven nights per 30-day period. (A particular guest may be a guest in Law School housing for no more than seven nights per 30 day period.) The resident/licensee will need to obtain a Guest Pass for each guest, each visit; you can do this simply by stopping by the office in Mercer Residence or D'Agostino Hall. You will need written permission from your apartmentmate(s) if you are having more than one guest at a time or if your guest is staying more than three consecutive nights; both require authorization from the administration.

I can only speak from experience in NYU Undergrad housing, which I'm assuming operates at least similarly. You could bring in guests spontaneously, but there was a limit on the number of nights they could stay. Also, the degree of flak experienced when signing someone in was really dependent upon which security guard was on duty that night.

Anyone still looking for a place?
I have one spot available in a 3 bedroom near Columbia. Should cost about 1095/mo has dishwasher and washer/dryer in the apartment. You'd be 25-30 mins by train from NYU. Lease would start 9/1, you'd be able to move in a little earlier than that.

Finally got my NetID today and just applied for housing!
The dorm policies are a little stricter than my undergrad is/was, but it doesn't sound too bad overall.

You're allowed to have like parties/pregames though, right? Or would I have to sign in 12+ guests? This all sounds stupid, I thought law school dorms wouldn't have rules.

From same friend: he threw a part with about 20 people. During 2L and 3L, he frequently had large groups at his place.
You are now adults, and I'm guessing that the school will likely treat you like adults. As an adult, yes, you can get together with friends, so long as you are mindful of the fact that you live with other people in the floor and building.

Did anyone who needed to send in his/her tax returns to financial aid receive a confirmation of receipt?? I sent mine in on Monday, but haven't heard anything since. I suppose I could call, but ugh.
I think you'll find this: https://support.google.com/a/users/answer/138740?hl=en useful. I recall it being pretty easy.Hotfries26 wrote:Does anyone know how to set up my @nyu.edu account to an iPhone?

Game of Thrones is the obvious answer, as it should be. It's good for mindful or mindless cause sooo good.Max324 wrote:also anyone have good recommendations for something mindless to watch tonight

IDK I usually watch sports/play video games when I'm looking for something mindless. I did just binge watch House of Cards, which was p good. Second season wasn't quite as good though.

Love House of Cards, agree completely about the second season. {SPOILERS} I was really hoping the second season arc would be about Zoe and crew giving Frank a run for his money, not the weird Raymond Tusk/China storyline.phillywc wrote:Game of Thrones is the obvious answer, as it should be. I'll check out GoT. So many people have recommended it, don't know why I haven't given it a shot yet

Does anyone know if NYU posts a list of firms and offices that interview at EIW? If so, where would I find it? Thanks in advance

They don't publicly. However, this should give you an idea: http://nalpdirectory.com/Page.cfm?PageID=34 on the left, go to campus interviews and select "campus interviews"bb2418 wrote:Does anyone know if NYU posts a list of firms and offices that interview at EIW? Are you streaming Veep from HBOGo, or do you have another source? I've been looking for it.fivestarfolds wrote:Max, I am nursing a wisdom-toothless wife as well. Also, if you haven't watched the first season of Damages, it might get you pumped for law school. If your heart bleeds for the little guy, watch The Guardian, another great law drama.
GOT is obviously the way better than all of these...

Has anyone received confirmation that their scholarship offer has been finalized after they sent in tax docs?
