Oh, I see. You understood but were just being righteously indignant regarding a colloquial style that you didn't like.

I understand the dangers of using quotes to emphasize words, as opposed to the more standard use of italics, for example. In this case there was little confusing my word as ironic, nonstandard, or as a quote. Since this is a non-academic, non-professional setting I still find the all caps word surrounded by quotes to be more visually pleasing and compelling, given the point I was trying to convey.

Also, that blog isn't actually funny. It was too one track.

I've never seen anyone use that like you do. It is not aesthetically pleasing, correct, or easier to do. Also, don't attack BOM she is way, way cooler than you.

I was speaking to someone a few days ago who kept saying a particular word, and I asked where he/she heard it, and sure enough TLS came up. It's funny though because everyone goes 'yea i just read it, I don't really post' including myself

If we submit our housing application by May 15th, are we automatically subject to the cancellation fee policy or does this only apply after we officially receive our housing assignment?

Also, do we know how soon after May 15th we should expect to receive our housing assignment?

Official language is "to be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on June 27, 2014, or the date indicated in your initial assignment, to cancel an academic year or fall only housing assignment letter. Applicants who cancel after 5:00 p.m. on June 27, 2014, and prior to 5:00 p.m. on August 1, 2014, will be assessed a $1,500 late cancellation fee. Applicants who cancel after 5:00 p.m. on August 1, 2014, are responsible for all fees due under or as a consequence of the License for the entire License period."

Mid-June according to: "We will begin to send out confirmations in mid-June and weekly thereafter. The actual date of application for those applying prior to May 15 is not considered when processing individual assignments. Entering students are assigned via an assignment, not a lottery, process."
