Welcome!! And nope, they use their own metric and it's all need-based, so other merit offers don't matter.muzzy wrote:Hello, future classmates! In off the waitlist!![]()
Super stupid question: CCN scholarships play no part in HYS aid packages due to HYS being need based, right? I want to make sure that I don't need to submit any award letters (I wasn't accepted at H or Y) as S's financial process moves forward.

Re: Stanford Class of 2017
Got all the admit stuff in the mail today after calling to commit yesterday.
Psyched to join up with yall this autumn. Any housing recommendations for trying to get the system to make sure I am on campus? Currently planning to pref Munger, EV 2-bed and studio...my main goal is that $1300 a month range or less while ensuring I have my own bathroom haha.

Welcome, Scoobs!!
Re housing: At the ASW I asked a bunch of current students about housing. Most people live in Munger, since it's literally a one minute walk from the law school. But it's expensive! EV is about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bike ride. I'm living in Kennedy (the brand new building) in EV, and could not be more excited. I think a lot of law students will be there, too, since it's much cheaper than Munger, really nice, and brand new. The students I spoke to who lived in EV all said that they didn't feel like they missed out on anything because they weren't in Munger. They mostly seemed surprised at the very thought.
One think that all current students told me was to try to get a year-long lease, because it's hard to get an on-campus apartment as a 2 or 3L since 1Ls have priority, but if you have a yearlong lease (as opposed to an academic year lease) you can simply renew it and not have to go through the lottery at all. It's also apparently quite easy to find a summer sublet. There was also a relatively long conversation in the admitted students facebook group about housing a couple of months ago.

Could I trouble anyone for a FB group count? Not that it means anything- just a way to allay my anxiety.

Got in off the wait list two days ago!
Anyone have any thoughts or tips on housing? I'm obviously a bit late to the game but I'm thinking of signing up for whatever student housing might still be available. How was the housing process for you guys?
Also, when do I get to access the Facebook group, does anyone know how long that takes? I figure the Facebook page might provide help with my housing search as well.

I haven't asked yet since I only realized today. If you're emailing her on Monday can you let me know what she says?zazmo2 wrote:I have the same question -- have you asked Faye? I was going to email her on Monday.anagram wrote:hi everyone, checking in here!![]()

Update from Faye:
"Unfortunately, we've not gotten ourselves up-to-speed when it comes to electronic processing of funds! So, it will have to be check in the mail."

Between this and the snail mail decisions Stanford really needs to move on into the 21st century! But I love SLS so much so I'll let it slidezazmo2 wrote:I just sent her an email -- I'll let you know!anagram wrote:I haven't asked yet since I only realized today.
