For the merit-based awards, though, is any of that additional documentation required? I was told that all applicants were automatically considered for merit awards, so an incomplete FAFSA etc. wouldn't be holding up merit aid, right?

Sorry to ask the dumb/duplicate question, but I wanted to be sure on this point.

Thanks everyone!
I think merit aid might also require receipt of the "You have been selected to apply for merit aid" email from Gtown with the optional essay, but I'm not sure
Yea, I didn't get that email (which concerned me), so I emailed them to check in, and they told me there wasn't any essay or anything I needed to submit to be considered, and they just considered people automatically. Of course, this may mean that because I didn't get that email I was already "automatically considered" and denied. :p

But the FAFSA...definitely not required for merit aid? I will be completing it, but there have been tax-related delays.

Just got the award letter- 60K over three years. Not terrible, but I was expecting more. No where near enough to justify GULC over NYU, Columbia or UChi, even at sticker.

Got mine as well via email. They weren't nearly as stingy as their reputation claims but also not a generous as others.

I basically got the same amount I've received from other schools - definitely not as stingy as I'd heard.

Just got mine- 90k. Probably not going to take it; 21k in tuition alone per year is definitely not cute, considering the COL in DC. A girl who went to my UG received 120k last year with the exact same numbers as mine, so I'm a little annoyed.

Obviously, PM if you want my numbers.

Got mine just now as well. In line with what I got with Michigan (35K/year), so not too stingy. Given my other options, though, I think this means Georgetown's officially out of the running...

Since I just got accepted on the 19th, does that mean I find out later?

I haven't received an email but I thought we all had to go through a second round first? Like write a second essay or something?

Picked up more than expected from Gtown...would put me at about half tuition. Really excited to have been chosen for any money at all!

Btw, I think 35k is probably about the maximum initial offer. Congrats to those who got it!

I don't think my award is enough to make Gtown a strong contender, but I had every intention of getting out of D.C. for at least 3 years anyway. Not sure if I'll get any need-based $, but might just go ahead and withdraw to free up a spot.

If you were invited to apply for scholarships, you would've received an e-mail saying so and to submit a brief(ish) essay explaining how much you want and why. If you didn't get an e-mail asking you to do so, you should e-mail admissions and ask if you can apply.

I was invited to apply and am still waiting. Keeping my fingers crossed I get something.

Yeah, I got that first email but I misunderstood what I read about the process in last year's thread. There's just the one essay.

Same. Although I don't remember writing any essay so I feel like that will probably hurt me.

Lol me too. I remember answering a question about how much aid I would need to consider G-town. Against my better judgment, I was honest. They were probably put off by that. I think the correct response would have been "$0 because I love you this much...
