Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Is there an admitted students website yet that we can access? Google will only send me to a page that says "this content is restricted for admitted students only, please select the back button in your browser." I am an admitted student! Take me to the screen where I can tell you this!
Is it through that website that you can RSVP for the ASWs, or a different site? Thanks guys!

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Alright everyone, I am working on a last minute Law Scholars application... I sure hope these answers are what they are looking for, but feel free to give me some feedback. Just don't steal my answers.
1) What are your strongest qualifications for these awards?
My heart of gold.
2) Describe your interest in law as a profession
My Cousin Vinny.
3) Describe your two most significant extracurricular activities (or honors received) in college.
I got a diploma,
And I avoided teenage pregnancy.
4) Describe your most significant employment experience
Gambling at the local greyhound track
5) What do you expect to be involved in both professionally and extracurricularly 10 years after you have graduated from law school?
Alcohol
6) If you were to choose an occupation other than the practice of law, what would you choose
Rodeo clown
Not to brag, but I think I've definitely got a chance at these scholarships.

I would include cocaine in your answer to #5 for accuracy. Other than that, looks good.SonlenNightfall wrote:Alright everyone, I am working on a last minute Law Scholars application... Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Checking in! Received my black box today. Definitely my top choice. Love the city, even been to campus a few times (just not the law school). Wish I could make the first ASW, but I will likely be going April 4th. Congrats to everyone else!

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Just got my black box a couple of days ago! Vanderbilt is definitely at the top of my list. Most likely won't be able to make the March 14th ASW, so I'll probably be at the April 4th one as well.

Will be interesting to see who Vandy hires if James Franklin takes the Penn State job. That would be a big loss. Sorry, I know that this isn't a sports forum, but I couldn't help myself.Jacked_Historian wrote:Isn't Vanderbilt great? You guys will love it. #1 School in Tennessee for football and Law!

Nothing official yet, but yeah all signs point towards him taking the job. Can't blame him. $4.5 million a year is a good chunk of money.arklaw13 wrote:Pretty sure he already took the job.wildcat43 wrote:Will be interesting to see who Vandy hires if James Franklin takes the Penn State job. Checking in! Received my box on Tuesday! Vandy is right near the top of my list, so I am very excited! Is the consensus that scholarship info will come out the last week of February like last year, or could it be earlier this year with the reduction in apps?

How do you register for ASW? I haven't gotten anything since my big black box in November.

Just submitted the Law Scholars Application! (hurray for soft deadlines and grace periods!) Here's hoping. My responses were 5 1/2 pages...hopefully that isn't crazy long.
The award descriptions sound like they pick one person for each award each year- do we think that's the case?

Multiple people get the John Wade, usually 2. I think the other awards are no more than one student, but that probably depends on funding levels. You're given the merit scholar award generally and a couple months later it's labeled as one of the names.ZipWhenSheMoves wrote:Just submitted the Law Scholars Application! Thanks for the information! My numbers are basically at the medians, so I don't imagine I'm the strongest candidate, but who knows! I did work pretty hard on my responses.arklaw13 wrote:Multiple people get the John Wade, usually 2. I think the other awards are no more than one student, but that probably depends on funding levels. No idea what goes into selection. They do a good job of picking people who end up with high 1L grades though. Most end up in the top 20% and/or on law review.ZipWhenSheMoves wrote:Thanks for the information! I did, my LSAT is at the 75th and my GPA is between 50th and 75th (but with a solid upward grade trend- all 4.0s after freshman year so fingers crossed mayyybe that'll help me??)
I love Vanderbilt and Nashville so if I were to get one of the law scholars awards it would absolutely seal the deal for me. It has pretty much been my 11:11 wish every day since I applied

Edit: Zip it sounds like you put a lot more length into your app than I did. I submitted mine before visiting the school and realizing it was my top choice...now I'm kicking myself wishing I had spent more time on it

I applied too, but I was so rushed for my mine (I kept putting it off, my bad), so I am not hopeful at all
I did register for the March 14 ASW though, very excited! Did anyone say they wanted to stay with a student? I did, but im kinda nervous about it
