Visited NYU this past week and didn't click with the school for some reason. I absolutely fell in love with NYC and Greenwich Village in particular, but for some reason NYU itself felt a bit depressing to me. Considering my lack of resources combined with the insane COL in NYC and the unlikelihood of a full-ride from NYU at this point, NYU is looking very unlikely. Got an email from the financial aid office today asking me to submit my parents' tax returns, which I received confirmation that they had added to my file weeks ago. When I indicated this fact, I got a reply stating that they found them and all was good Considering that I was admitted in January, it is certainly inconvenient that I haven't received any sort of decision on financial aid yet; they're cutting it pretty close with commitment deadlines.

Considering that I was admitted in January, it is certainly inconvenient that I haven't received any sort of decision on financial aid yet; they're cutting it pretty close with commitment deadlines.

Seems like a lot of people, myself included, have had a hard time with the financial aid office. I've been calling and e-mailing with simple questions and haven't gotten responses for days. I'm sure this time of year is very busy for them, but they've been so unresponsive. Case in point: I sent their office additional documentation for my appeal via e-mail; just wanted them to attach it to the file. They got back to me three days later, a day AFTER I received the appeal denial. Ugh, now I have to go deal with that.

NYU seems to have the largest number of named scholarships for specific purposes or special career interests--RTK, Bickel&Brewer, IILJ, Furman, etc. I'm inclined to think that this might be a contributing factor in non-named aid decisions being so underwhelming. Duke and UMich are comparatively far more generous once they are done handing out Mordecais and Darrows, and they don't really have any special merit-based schollies. Just a thought...

Off the top of my head, pretty sure it's May 2nd, but you should fact-check that.

You should definitely take a look at the ASW section that says "Enrolling at NYU" -- it will link you to the form and the deposit page. Additionally, make sure you also login to FAAPS and accept your award (if you have one) when you decide to go to NYU.
