For whatever that's worth.

The "Currently Available" are the ones that are open right now. The window nonsense is about those that will be open in the fall, but are currently occupied.Pneumonia wrote:Someone explain the difference between HUH "currently available" and "HUH selection window options" ??

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
Currently available means, you select it, you got it. You don't need to wait for anything. As long as your application has been approved (and it will need to have been if you're able to look at currently available), you can select a room and it immediately goes off the list and they send you your lease to your HLS e-mail. Your window number and day don't matter.Pneumonia wrote:Someone explain the difference between HUH "currently available" and "HUH selection window options" ??
The selection window has a greater number of apartments. You view the available ones on one day and the next day you rank the apartments you would most like to live in and then submit. It is first come, first serve on selection day.
Who knows why it is split up this way. I think that the currently available apartments tend to have a bit funkier starting dates on the leases.

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
thanks that makes sense: the ones imma see in my view/select window are generally for the fall then?
I assumed that I'd be able to see more when I got to my window, I just wasn't sure how they were divided between "currently avail" and "window select." The summer/fall thing makes sense. Thanks again.

Looking at floor plans, I'm super confused.. where are the bathrooms for fifth floor Hastings rooms? Per the Hastings page, there are no bathroom, and I don't see them on the floor plan either.

People on 5th floor Hastings have to use a 4th floor or 3rd floor bathroom depending on the gender set-up of the bathroom assignments below them. Between that and scaling stairs to get to your 5th floor room, you don't have to worry about getting fat from studying so much!

Yeah, I decided against 5th floor. Lady = climbing two flights of stairs every time I want to take a shower or use the bathroom.jingosaur wrote:People on 5th floor Hastings have to use a 4th floor or 3rd floor bathroom depending on the gender set-up of the bathroom assignments below them. Re: Harvard Class of 2017
If any of you guys are looking for a summer sublet with a possible option to extend for next year, my room in a shared apartment is available.
$800/mo - 1 BR summer sublet in 3 BR apt, available 5/25-8/2. Exact dates are negotiable, if you want it for more or less time.
Room is available furnished or unfurnished. Right now, it has a bed, desk + desk chair, reading chair, and storage space for clothes and books etc. Window AC unit in room.
The apartment has a washer/dryer and dishwasher in-unit. 1 bathroom. 3 off-street parking spots available for no extra fee, which is great if you have a car and expect visitors with cars. (Neither of my current roommates have cars, so the spaces will all be available). The apartment has a small private deck off the kitchen, which will be nice for the summer. The apartment also has dedicated storage space in the basement, if you need to leave stuff down there during your sublet.
Location is Craigie Street between Somerville Ave and Summer St. The apartment is a 9-minute walk to the nearest grocery store, and a 12-minute walk to Porter Square. It's a 15 to 20-minute walk to HLS. It's located on the same block as a park with basketball courts.
Current roommates are a PhD student and a recent graduate working in biotech (both male).
If you're interested, pm me.

Halfway through Feldman's "Scorpions". This book is 2legit2quit.
It's like the real housewives of Washington D.C., but with scotch, cigars, and power.

Haha that's a pretty decent analogy. It get's downright petty.sjgonzalez3 wrote:Halfway through Feldman's "Scorpions". This book is 2legit2quit.

Another questions about the "currently available" apts... if I select it, do I need to sign a lease (and put down deposit?) right away??

They'll send you the documents and then you have a few days to return them, so its not instant, but you don't have a ton of time to just sit on a selection either.bbkk wrote:Another questions about the "currently available" apts... if I select it, do I need to sign a lease (and put down deposit?) right away??

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
