Re: Harvard Class of 2017
I got a pretty sweet room selection window so now I have to think about what I actually want... Has anyone seen or does anyone know whether the extra square footage of a Gropius type 2 or 3 is worth an extra 100ish dollars per month? Will I feel like I'm living in a tiny jail cell in a type 1? North looks great but is a North Standard worth double a Gropius Type 1? HAAALP.

I think all the price increases are worth it as long as you don't go to Hastings. Hastings is not worth it at all. They pay more than I do for less usable space and a crumblier building.lawschoolwannabee123 wrote:I got a pretty sweet room selection window so now I have to think about what I actually want... Here are some better photos of a Type-6:

There's more room in a type-6 than in many of the living rooms of Cambridge apartments. I'll definitely be in an apartment next year because I hated not having a kitchen (my own kitchen - there is an 8-sq-ft dorm "kitchen" in the next building), but I really didn't mind the dorms other than that.

What sort of window would one need to have a shot at an HLS apartment?

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
Does anyone know if there is an online/electronic version of the college certification form? I would like to be able to email it to my pre-law advisor. (I know they have to mail it in). Thanks in advance!
PS: Also got the last housing window... can I still bet on getting something in groupius?

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
I wasn't even admitted this time last year and had no problem getting a Gropius room. I didn't start looking until June and I still had options. I took a Type-2 and someone in a Type-6 switched with me in the room swap system because they wanted to pay less.
They hold rooms for 1Ls so that you can live on campus. Don't worry about your selection window.
Also, re: Gropius being more social. It's not, unless you're a dorm-lounge-lover. Most of my social activities take place in other people's apartments. It's the closer aspect that everyone loves.

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
I'm thinking our chances at getting one of the HLS apartments aren't great, since the HAHLS website says that "only returning students are officially eligible to live in the HLS Apartments. If any HLS apartments remain vacant after the returning student room selection period, they will then be offered to incoming students." Since there's only 26 (?) apartment units available, that probably doesn't bode well for our chances as 0Ls unless you have one of the first windows.Pneumonia wrote:What sort of window would one need to have a shot at an HLS apartment?

Smirking, in fact, might be the official facial expression of Harvard Law School.

It's mostly depressing with a few 'yeah the law is hard, get the fuck over it' type responsesEvMont wrote:I have a feeling this article might take a turn, so I'm gonna stop right here:t-14orbust wrote:Here's something to get you all excited....lol

HUH. I got the e-mail about windows opening on the 5th, but I'm wondering how some peeps seem to know which window they have. Is it a dorm thing?Fianna13 wrote:Did you apply for HUH or Dorms? Yeah, the window selection emails today were for HLS housing (dorms and the handful of HLS apartments).HorseThief wrote:HUH. I've read that article before and it is so damn depressing. Everytime it crops up I file it away in the denial part of my brain and move on. 30 year old COM is going to be really pissed at 24 year old COM for that, but oh well this is what I got going for me so... no turning back now!t-14orbust wrote:Here's something to get you all excited....lol

Shoot, I don't know what I was thinking but I missed the housing application deadline so I can only choose from May 12 onward. Do you think there will still be some Gropius rooms left by then, or will they have been all snapped up?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
