bound: I took 5 years off. In 2009 I was literally looking at an acceptance offer to Thomas M. Cooley School of Law (with a full scholly tho haha). My other offers were Hofstra or Southwestern at sticker. Thank God when I flew to NY to see Hofstra I got too drunk to visit the law school and decided to scrap the idea altogether. If you underperformed your numbers this cycle, just hunker down and overperform them next year.
I will have taken 3 years off by the time school starts this fall. I think two or three years off is a good balance between familiarity with the real world but young enough when you graduate. Not trying to disparage anyone else's choices.. I don't think there's a right or wrong time to go, except for overpaying, which is what you're avoiding by reapplying.bound wrote: I'm feeling like I'm going to be the old mom of the class
I took a year off. Ended up going to the school I had paid a deposit to last cycle. Including the deposit money down the drain, and costs of retaking a reapplying, as well as income earned over the last year I think I made about $100,000 due to an increased scholarship offer and that income. I'm in a better place personally to attend law school, and have made professional connections in the mean time.bound wrote:georgej wrote:Wow this thread is even better when it stays on topic. Thanks for the adviceI'm thinking that a new app on day 1 (plus qualifying for in-state at UT) is a better decision in the long run. We'll see if any of my top contenders negotiate in the next month, but if not then I'm perfectly okay with sitting out again!
Wow. I'm 28 and have never felt older in my life then after reading this. Sucks that I'll be to old when I graduate...guess I need to re-evaluate my life plan. We are twinsies. It helps (in a really bad way, because it's not like I'm rooting against my friends) that I see unemployed people who went to TTTs and regionals at sticker not able to find jobs. I know someone that graduated from USC last summer as is still unemployed. She took out sticker debt. It confirms my belief that I definitely made the right decision.brrrrcat wrote:I will have taken 3 years off by the time school starts this fall.
