A decent percentage of the people who ultimately attend will be going at sticker. I bet it is a bit rarer among TLSers though.buffalo_ wrote:Anybody here considering financing at full sticker?

Yeah, but a decent percentage of those will have there parents cover stuff though, or at least help out. Idk how many people debt finance sticker, but I would guess that it isn't a very large number. Certainly not all of those that are "paying sticker."phillywc wrote:A decent percentage of the people who ultimately attend will be going at sticker. I think I remember reading that around 20% of students at T14s take out zero loans.Pneumonia wrote:Yeah, but a decent percentage of those will have there parents cover stuff though, or at least help out. I'm so jealous of them. It would make deciding soooooo much easier.

Yea, the debt prospect hurt the joy of acceptance to a great extent.

Going to attempt to negotiate with NYU starting from 0$. Stats are LSAT at 75th, GPA at median.
If anyone has had any success with negotiation, I'd love to hear it. I'm pretty enamored with NYU, but can't pay sticker.

Appealing, but might be paying sticker. Planning on living in a much cheaper area and commuting in, working a second job during 1L summer if I don't land an SA, doing most of my own cooking, budgeting when I go out, keeping my current laptop, wardrobe, etc. All SA money after covering COL will have to go towards paying down the debt.buffalo_ wrote:Anybody here considering financing at full sticker?

there hasn't been a more crushing moment in my cycle (to be fair, haven't had many bad outcomes) than getting the $0 offer

For people who went to one of the previous admitted students days:
Did NYU have a bag check on Friday for people who were either arriving just in time for the events or leaving the city right after?
Also, do you think it's worth staying an extra night to any unofficial activities Friday night?

As far as staying an extra night - I left immediately after the programming on Friday and felt that I had a very good sense of the school, so it's definitely not necessary. That being said, I guess it couldn't really hurt, either. Are you going to be there Thursday night?

Question about accepted students day: How weird is it to bring my Mom? I live in the area and I want her to come see it with me but I also don't want to be "that girl with her Mom"

What're the chances of getting on-campus studio apartment? I'm too old for a roommate.
i dont think there are roommate options available, so i'd say your odds are good

Bring her to the city and school but I wouldn't bring her to the events tbh. You'll have a harder time interacting with and getting a sense of your fellow students if your mom is hanging around. But you could definitely take some personal time and tour the area w/ her on your own, so it would be fine.Hotfries26 wrote:Question about accepted students day: How weird is it to bring my Mom? I mean we're from the area so she's familiar but she wanted to come especially to hear the group on financing the education. We would only be coming for Friday because I have to leave school in Mass. Are the different groups just meetings where you sit or is there a lot of interaction? She's a helicopter parent but I can't say I hate itlawschool22 wrote:Bring her to the city and school but I wouldn't bring her to the events tbh. A lot of the panels are just sitting and listening, unless you ask questions. I don't think it'd be too awkward to have a parent at those if they're not obnoxious about it. However for things like the breakfast with faculty, lunch with a professor, and the organization fair you'll be interacting a lot with potential students and current students.Hotfries26 wrote:I mean we're from the area so she's familiar but she wanted to come especially to hear the group on financing the education. Thanks for your help guys! I'll probably end up keeping her around for panels and then hide her with my cousins a few blocks away for the lunches and things like that!AdInfinitum wrote:A lot of the panels are just sitting and listening, unless you ask questions. Re: NYU Class of 2017 - Old Photos in OP!
Is this true? Looking at the housing options it appears the majority are two or three bedroom apartments intended to be split with roommates which are selected by the school. I was under impression the studio apartmens were rare (and 1 bedroom apartments expensive).rseaney wrote:SFrost wrote:Deposited today.
