And I went from under review to final review in two days after being admitted on Wed.

I went to final review almost immediately. Don't think it means much.

Nothing to add really... just super excited about NYU still... if I can get a teeny tiny bit of more money, it'll be a slam dunk and I'll pull out from everywhere else.
How is everyone feeling?

Received scholarship info today (admitted first week of January, rejected from RTK mid-March, went under final review late March-applied for both merit and need). Very glad I didn't get completely screwed like bom and others did this week, but it's lower than what Chicago offered, and I'm somewhat disappointed by it given the amounts others with similar numbers have received. PM for more details.

Re: NYU Class of 2017 - Old Photos in OP!
I visited NYU this week and I have to say I was extremely impressed. Unfortunately, I can't make it to any of the ASDs so this visit was my chance to get a feel for the school (I live on the west coast so visiting is expensive). I sat in on a class and then toured the campus and surrounding area with a student. I really liked the law school building(s) and library. Everyone I met seemed pretty happy and laid back. I found the area around it, especially Washington Square Park, to be awesome. Overall it was a great experience and I'm glad I got that chance. This was only a half-day single person tour so I would imagine ASD is gonna kick ass.phillywc wrote:Nothing to add really... just super excited about NYU still... if I can get a teeny tiny bit of more money, it'll be a slam dunk and I'll pull out from everywhere else.

I still don't think NYU will be my final destination unless some financial situations change in the upcoming weeks, but I was thoroughly blown away with NYU. In fact, I was sort of ambivalent to NYU before the visit just because, as mentioned above, I was thinking that I wouldn't end up there. The visit quickly changed my feelings towards NYU. I just wanted to share that for anyone in here who has yet to visit and let you know that in my brief experience NYU Law seems like a tremendous place to attend.

What does "Room and Board" cover in the student expense budget? Rent+ultilities+food+other? I live in the area, and $22,396 seems pretty high.

Also got my aid offer. Not low enough to be completely out of the running, but not high enough for me to take it immediately. Maybe I'm more debt-averse than most... but it probably also has to do with how NYU's COL is really high...

Re: NYU Class of 2017 - Old Photos in OP!
I'm starting to apartment hunt, looking for people interested in Queens. A friend and I are looking at the Jackson Heights area (3 bedroom probably).
The area we're looking at is near Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave, which has five subway lines, four of which go to NYU (three to West 4th, one to 8th St-NYU). There are two express trains that get you from Jackson Heights to West 4th in 22-25 minutes. Including the walk to/from the train, we're aiming for a little over 30 minutes door to door.
We're looking at apartments in the $2k-$2.5k range right now; we're targeting $700-$800 per person per month.
PM me if you're interested!

Anyone hear back from an appeal? I sent one through the portal but see no confirmation from email, the message box, or the appeals tab.

Email the financial aid office, they seem to take it down when you get the actual offer? Emailing them starts the appeals process.Pneumonia wrote:My appeal tab disappeared? Anyone know where it went?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
