Re: Duke Class of 2017
I am not sure about the ratio of need based to merit based, but I recall seeing somewhere that 86% of the class last year received some form of aid.

I sent in my scholarship form last week. Does anyone know how long it will take for them to get back to me?

A much-belated check in!
Also, if you haven't seen this Youtube channel yet, it has great vids with interviews of students at all the major law schools, including Duke! http://youtu.be/EMtgj0UGY8I
Now I need to get off my bum and do this fin aid stuff...

Also curious. I'll be submitting my form very soon once I wrap up Need Access.yarrow wrote:I sent in my scholarship form last week. Does anyone know how long it will take for them to get back to me?

Does anyone know if Mordecai invites have traditionally gone out past this point?

Re: Duke Class of 2017
Congrats from a current 1L on getting in. I am heading to a non-Triangle market for my summer job and am looking to sublease my apartment for a discounted rate. If any of you are summer starters or will be here for whatever reason, and are interested, shoot me a PM for more details on complex, etc.
Also, if you have any questions about Duke in general, feel free to ask as well.

Hey fellow Mordecai invitees, any word on the appropriate attire for the interview day? If it was just a campus visit, I'd stay pretty casual, but the interview part of it makes me think I should wear a suit. Thoughts?

I've been following this thread pretty closely and I don't think anyone has reported receiving money.Leo wrote:yarrow wrote:I sent in my scholarship form last week. Does anyone know how long it will take for them to get back to me?

You guys do need + merit? I did merit only so I'm wondering if I'll hear more quickly than I would otherwise.

I also did merit only. I doubt we'll hear earlier than anyone else though. Offers started going out in late Feb last year IIRC.drawstring wrote:You guys do need + merit? I did merit only so I'm wondering if I'll hear more quickly than I would otherwise.

Re: Duke Class of 2017
Under mailings in my status checker I have a new "Scholarship Form Received". So now I have one dated 1/27 (the day after I finished the needaccess and sent in the form), and then the new one dated 2/07. I am hoping this means they made a decision and not that they are just starting it now.

I sent mine in yesterday and have "Scholarship Form Received" from 2/6 and another one today. Not sure they'd make a decision that quickly.

What are most of you folks doing w/r/t travel dates? Seems like the right play is to fly in Thursday night, and leave Sunday morning? I have no idea what most people do for a place to stay. Split hotels? Stay with current students? I'd like to get a sense of what life as a Duke Law student is like during that weekend since it's my top choice. Any thoughts?

I am flying in Thursday afternoon and leaving Saturday morning. That's the only way that my schedule would work, though, so I didn't really consider other options.blink wrote:What are most of you folks doing w/r/t travel dates? I was looking for the cheapest motel, but then I figured if I found one with an airport shuttle I could save a couple of cab trips. So I'll end up paying about the same as if I had gotten a room at the Red Roof Inn, but I'm staying at what looks to be a nicer place.

I have a scholarship form received for 1/06 and now 2/07. Also hoping that means they sent out decisions. However:
This makes me think that everyone got the update regardless of the letter being sent out.drawstring wrote:I sent mine in yesterday and have "Scholarship Form Received" from 2/6 and another one today. Not sure they'd make a decision that quickly.

FYI - interesting tidbit from the first Mordecai day. They said although applications are down overall across the country, applications are up again this year at Duke (around 6%, I believe was said). Obviously that's not a final number, but thought it was interesting nonetheless.

This is now corroborated from someone else who was there also. I think 6% was right.carolinainmymind wrote:FYI - interesting tidbit from the first Mordecai day. Does that coincide with them starting the Priority Track program?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
