Yeah! Do we have info on an itinerary yet? On the Admitted Students site, all I see is last year's schedule...bhs12 wrote:Checking in! See you all at ASW?

Have any cross-admits gotten their aid awards from both HLS and SLS at this point? Are they pretty similar or are they notably different? PMs welcome.

+1 I'm also wondering this. Also wondering if anyone who got different amounts of aid has been able to negotiate between the two.DrStudMuffin wrote:Have any cross-admits gotten their aid awards from both HLS and SLS at this point? Are they pretty similar or are they notably different? PMs welcome.

Looks like this is a popular topic

For good reason, so much debt.

I got significantly more from SLS than from HLS. I haven't tried negotiating yet and would love to know how that would work.Howl wrote:+2!!whippersnappery wrote:+1 I'm also wondering this. From the HLS SFS information "To request this, please contact our office and provide verifiable documentation of the need-based aid offer from another school."blckwsl wrote:I got significantly more from SLS than from HLS. How much more from SLS? You don't need to be specific at all, but just a general ballpark number. Feel free to PM if you like.

~5k more. But that's not including the fact that HLS has a higher tuition by another couple thousand.Nonconsecutive wrote:From the HLS SFS information "To request this, please contact our office and provide verifiable documentation of the need-based aid offer from another school."blckwsl wrote:I got significantly more from SLS than from HLS. Thanks for sharing, I'd definitely try negotiating, nothing to lose really.blckwsl wrote:~5k more. But that's not including the fact that HLS has a higher tuition by another couple thousand.

I agree-- it can't hurt to ask.Nonconsecutive wrote:Thanks for sharing, I'd definitely try negotiating, nothing to lose really.blckwsl wrote:~5k more. But that's not including the fact that HLS has a higher tuition by another couple thousand.
I wonder how possible it is to negotiate after the deposit deadline. My parents can't get their shit together to fill out their taxes, ugh. Anyone have any idea?

Re: Stanford Class of 2017
If you look at the 509 required disclosure reports, Stanford on average tends to be more generous than Harvard so I wouldn't bank on them changing their offer significantly.
Percent receiving grants:
Stanford: 53.6%
Harvard: 47.5%
25th/50th/75th Grant amounts:
Stanford: $13,707 - $21,938 - $33,105
Harvard: $11,000 - $19,800 - $28,250
Of course, maybe Harvard matrics are just richer than Stanford matrics? I doubt it though.

Just heard back from HLS. They refused to increase my grant and told me that financial considerations should not be the most important factor. They also attached a long piece about their LIPP program (which doesn't help me at all, since I want big law).Nonconsecutive wrote:Thanks for sharing, I'd definitely try negotiating, nothing to lose really.blckwsl wrote:~5k more. Thanks Harvard.

Thanks Harvard.

Speaking of Stanford's aid, there is a pretty good idea of what HLS' max grant is for a person without dependents, does anyone know what SLS' max is?

Leaving the airport from CA now. Was a fun weekend, a little dry (on the alcohol front) but the place is beautiful and its definitely got some really intriguing traits that make my Harvard v. Stanford decision more difficult.

Agreed on all fronts-- my decision just got more difficult (Yale v. Stanford). I'd be very curious to PM with other people feeling similarly torn.CyanIdes Of March wrote:Leaving the airport from CA now. I'm deciding between SLS and the Ruby. I was set on Chicago before Stanford's ASW, I loved my visit, so idk what I'm going to do now.CyanIdes Of March wrote:Leaving the airport from CA now. I still have to think about financials a bit, but I think I'm pretty much set on Stanford after this weekend... it just felt right to me. I hope to see many of you there next year!
