I appealed late Feb and have yet to hear anything. It says says award letter sent. I feel like
They won't get back to until the last possible moment in april.

Wow, I think I just got a personalized congratulations letter from an NYU professor. Or did everyone else get the same one today too?

NYU has many professors/students/alumni send e-mails based on your interests. It might just be one of those?

Mine was sort of similar to my personal statement, the Professor who e-mailed me is conducting research about economic law and policy, and I wrote that I was interested in working in public policy and legislation. It was exciting to receive no matter what!

I'd really like to try to get more money if possible but I don't have any competing offers yet so I don't want to appeal until I have more leverage. I do have $$$ from USC, $$ from Duke, and an acceptance at CLS so far but I don't think that's going to do me any good. But if I wait until I get all my decisions and financial aid offers, it's probably going to be really late (like mid to late april) and then I'm worried that there'll be no money left.

Can I send in an appeal with what I have now and the continue to update them with additional offers as they roll out? If they deny my appeal, can I appeal again with additional info?

Don't forget that a lot of the "negotiation money" opens up when people withdraw. "Oh, Kid X doesn't need this 60k anymore? Let's give it to students who actually want to go here."

I literally just got into CLS last week so I totally missed the March 1st soft deadline for financial aid stuff. I turned mine in ASAP but I don't have high hopes of getting my aid offer soon. Next week would be really really awesome though.

I believe all of the NYU scholarships expire on April 21st, so peer schools probably take that into account and make sure that you get an offer solidly before that deadline (I hope). I would also assume that NYU's appeal process would also make sure to get you a final decision before the deadline.

Columbia, btw, didn't actually start reviewing the aid apps until March 15th according to the financial aid office, so submitting late hopefully won't delay you as much as you would think.

Actually, a bunch of people in the 2016 thread reported hearing back about appeals starting the end of March (they had submitted around the 10th or 12th I believe) and thereafter reports trickled in until the deadline. There was a mixed bag, from "omg appeal denied!" to "they doubled my award!" (I'm paraphrasing). Please feel free to double check this though.

Some people think it's does potentially, some think it doesn't. IMHO if you are super super wealthy, it's probably best to do merit only. But that's purely speculation.

Uhh me saying "the blonde" wasn't a judgment, it was a descriptor because I'm pretty sure writing her name out on this forum wouldn't be kosher. Regardless, it's pretty ridiculous/hilarious that anyone would get so personally offended by the fact that I found one of the panelists attractive. I would also comment on her speaking points but I'm not currently interested in corporate law, so her description of the NYU Law/Stern dynamic didn't really appeal to me.
