Anyone else bored of summer yet? Nothing to do here, thank god for the World Cup
i'm in south america now. there was a small earthquake after every score during the champions league final. the city i'm in even banned alcohol during contentious games bc people kept killing each other lol. definitely excited about the world cup!
Haha sounds pretty great, I was in Spain and Italy during the 2010 WC and it was a pretty good time. I'm sure it will be nuts in SA.

I am stranded in an apartment in the middle of nowhere, and I won't have access to a car for about two weeks. Manhattan sounds like paradise right now.
Man, that's rough, I'm lucky enough to at least have a car, so I might go to Chicago or Texas to visit some friends. You there for a job or you just live in the middle of nowhere?

Is it fair to assume that the rest of the housing assignments (UAH, Law School only) will be sent out sometime this week?

I'm hoping so, but idk if it's right to assume as much. And I just tried to check the Housing Portal this morning and there's some weird error message and it tells me to try again later.

Anyone else receive instructions to fill out the Law School Grant Data Sheet? It feels strange to write your own biography.

Yeah, the whole thing seems a little strange to me. Also, I can't seem to find my Columbia University ID number... anyone have any tips?

They sent it to me when I registered to apply for housing. So I had to dig through some old emails to find it. It's a nine digit number preceded by a "C."

Yeah I agree. And did you notice that the example they link to is written in the 3rd-person? To me it's even stranger to write about oneself in 3rd-person...not to mention that I don't have much of anything impressive to put down!

Thanks! I couldn't find it in an email, but I checked my housing application and it was on there.

Just got my assignment. Pretty upset that they gave me a roommate, considering they well know that I have a dog, and I was told it wouldn't be a problem.

Get in touch with your roommate. They might be totally cool with it.

Got my offer and declined it. Want to live with my best friend from undergrad who is going for his masters in journalism, and he was not offered housing. Looks like we will be going apartment hunting! Anyone hear anything about best apartments in the area? Looking for a starting point.

Anyone else moving in early? I'd like to make friends!
ME! My move-in date was originally during orientation, and the only other option was late July.
Also, this might be a stupid question but does having ethernet mean that we won't have wireless connection?

Shouldn't you be able to plug a wireless router in? I am ashamed of my limited knowledge of technology.

Yes. They said at ASW that you could hook up a wireless router to the ethernet port though.

I think that's what I'm gonna do! Just be eerily friendly and overly enthusiastic about the prospect of us living together.

Good luck. I think most people like dogs, esp. if they don't have to pick up after them

Roommates get all the fun without any of the work.

Just an FYI... I was thinking about bringing my pup to school too, but they said that no pets are allowed in UAH apartments unless you have a disability. Not that I think they would notice, but it's not technically allowed....
I may still bring my puppy

That's the official policy, but if you check in the Ask CLS 1Ls thread it appears that the official policy isn't really enforced (esp. if you're in a single/studio).
