Re: UC-Berkeley Class of 2017
I'm visiting this week instead of ASW! I made arrangements for my visit by submitting a request through the admitted students portal online about 3 weeks ahead of time, and a few days later someone from the office sent me a really nice email with details regarding reimbursement. From what I've been told, it works the same as ASW (same $ limit, you show them receipts for your travel arrangements, etc). I know you said you're not going to ASW but just in case anyone else sees this, you can only get reimbursed for ASW or an individual visit but not both.Power_of_Facing wrote:I can't make ASW, but I am coming to visit and I am seriously jazzed on Boalt -- does that mean I am out of luck w/r/t travel reimbursement?

I hadn't seen this mentioned on the site before. It's a blog contributed to by Boalt students and alum. Although it is no longer regularly updated, it's neat to read through some old entries. It gives more of a flavor to the school.

Also, I'm currently in the process of moving from the Lake Merritt area of Oakland to an apartment a little closer to campus. I know how difficult the apartment postings in this area can be to navigate. If anyone wants any advice on housing feel free to pm me! I'm happy to help

Has anyone filled out the Supplemental Application for Need-Based Grants? Did you wait until after you had been assigned a student ID?
Thanks
Thanks

Someone ITT mentioned that they were able to submit without their ID, but I don't think that is very wise

Yes, I'm still waiting on mine. I agree that it wouldn't be wise to go ahead and submit without a student ID. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't the only recent admit still waiting for one.bonerland wrote:I am waiting to receive my ID. Don't they ask you for your LSAC number? I'm sure they can match who you are thru that.Cocoblues wrote:Oh...![]()

I received a decent need-based grant from UCLA. Hoping Berkeley can pull something similar.

+1 I'm hoping that since they're both in the UC system their need based qualifications are the same.bonerland wrote:I received a decent need-based grant from UCLA. Hoping Berkeley can pull something similar.

I got an auto-reply email with a lot of information. This was the most relevant part:bonerland wrote:Please share the results.Cocoblues wrote:[

Q: Can I still submit the FAFSA and/or Supplemental Application after the March 2 deadline?
A: Yes. Applications received after the deadline will be considered for need-based grants on a first-come first-served basis as funds remain available. Please submit your applications as soon as possible. If you are applying for loans only, the March 2 deadline does not apply, however, you should submit your FAFSA in time to be offered loans before mid-July.
I think I'll go ahead and submit mine by the end of the day tomorrow, ID or not!
^^
Thanks for the info, Calle!

I thought the window for receiving scholarship decisions was March 1-April 30. So theoretically people should have been hearing for a few weeks but I haven't heard of anyone who has received an offer.albs18 wrote:They are rolling out offers between March 15th and April 30th. I saw in last year's thread a lot of people already had their need-based aid packages by the 2nd of April. I really hope they release that info around that time again considering the deposit to my 2nd choice school is due April 1st.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
