Re: Harvard Class of 2017
I don't know why I stalk all the other status checkers and TLS threads when I'm 95% sure I'm going to end up at Harvard. Is everyone doing the same thing, or is it just me? lol

I still take it personally, that I've heard nothing from UVA and Michigan.HarvardHopeful wrote:I don't know why I stalk all the other status checkers and TLS threads when I'm 95% sure I'm going to end up at Harvard. Is everyone doing the same thing, or is it just me? lol

If this makes you feel any better:
http://abovethelaw.com/2013/03/does-any ... ield-rate/
What follows is largely rumor and speculation:
Every school wants to protect their yield.
If you're accepted at HYS and withdraw from other schools early in the cycle, those other schools' yields are protected because they never admitted you in the first place. This is bound to happen for a number of candidates.
So, for schools outside HYS, it is often in their best interest (at least from a yield perspective) to wait to admit students whose stats suggest they'll be going to HYS until that pool has dwindled to those who would still seriously consider attending a non-HYS school.
Or so I imagine.

Hahah yea i've heard nothing from UVA and I submitted in October. Definitely feeling a YP. I'm assuming they waitlist or deny HYS numbers unless they can offer close to a full ride as incentive.Sourrudedude wrote:I still take it personally, that I've heard nothing from UVA and Michigan.HarvardHopeful wrote:I don't know why I stalk all the other status checkers and TLS threads when I'm 95% sure I'm going to end up at Harvard. Also - props to the people who are doing this process while taking care of their families. I'm stressed with only myself to worry about! I would definitely be up for an NYC meet up, and I'll be going to ASW in March as well. Can't wait to meet everyone!

Didn't apply to Michigan, but I'm with you on UVA. Totally taking it personally.Sourrudedude wrote:I still take it personally, that I've heard nothing from UVA and Michigan.HarvardHopeful wrote:I don't know why I stalk all the other status checkers and TLS threads when I'm 95% sure I'm going to end up at Harvard. Re: Harvard Class of 2017
Have you guys been getting a ton of emails introducing you to x, y, or z person based on the admitted student survey you took? I can't quite tell if they are mass emails / if I should respond personally to all of them. Thoughts??

I haven't received them bc I didn't fill it out yet. So must be somewhat personalized.cway wrote:Have you guys been getting a ton of emails introducing you to x, y, or z person based on the admitted student survey you took?
