I won't be applying. I could be wrong, but it seems like a PI fellowship.

They prefer PI people, but the guy who won it that I spoke with said that he was going for a firm. There is no way for them to tell (well, I guess there kind of is), and they can't force you to a PI route.

Yeah that makes sense. I meant it more as I don't have a resume with a ton of PI-ish looking stuff.Theopliske8711 wrote:They prefer PI people, but the guy who won it that I spoke with said that he was going for a firm. I think I'm just trying to justify why I'm not applying to this thing even though it won't cost me much to do so.

JFC four letters of req and two additional references, in addition to the LORs we sent to apply?
Well then.

How many of you are submitting addenda on your housing apps, and what kinds of requests are you making? I'm generally passive about things like this. However, if other people are being very particular, I don't want to screw myself over.

It's a 10 grand a year grant, you can apply any time during the three years. It's meant for PI, but really anyone can go for it. They pick like one or two each year from like 9 to 11 applicants.Balthy wrote:I've never heard of this. Thanks. I also looked around a bit and it seems this is the only thing like it that columbia offers to JDs. There are more for LLMs and JSDs.Theopliske8711 wrote:It's a 10 grand a year grant, you can apply any time during the three years. It's meant for PI, but really anyone can go for it. What is everyones top choice in terms of apartment arrangements. I have Lenfest as my top choice, but I'm looking at the prices now and GOOD LORD IS IT EXPENSIVE. I visited some apartments during ASW, but idk I really want to look at places around Harlem.

Does anyone know how strict the deadline for the loan application/MPN is?
I completely forgot about it until today, and unfortunately I wont have access to a scanner until Monday. They generally seem fairly relaxed about this stuff.

I called them, and it's not a strict deadline. The woman I talked to said a couple of days after the deadline was okay, and if you're missing forms then they would just let you know.AdInfinitum wrote:Does anyone know how strict the deadline for the loan application/MPN is?

You can go to FedEx to get stuff scanned.

I put UAH so then it didn't let me put Lenfest or anything after that because those are law-school only :/minato wrote:What is everyones top choice in terms of apartment arrangements. I'd go with UAH if you're worried about price. From my understand it's cheaper. I found all the UAH places i visited pretty nice, so i picked it independent of price. Lenfest looks too much like UG dorms IMO and lionsgate is just.. very ugly (just me?). Plus i had department-specific housing in UG and realized i prefer to have some diversity in roommates/neighbors.

Nevermind I found it. I thought the law school housing options were apart of UAH?

Re: Columbia Class of 2017
Anyone know the deadline for requesting a deferral at Columbia?
Also hoping the loan application deadline is pretty flexible bc I don't want to apply until I decide whether I'm deferring.
Also, is anyone else still double-deposited?

Re: Columbia Class of 2017
prices and descriptions. there's more clarity now about which buildings have furnished / unfurnished rooms, and the prices are definitely different (slightly higher) than when i read over them ~2 weeks ago. nothing drastic, i was just curious if anyone else had picked up on thisscoobers wrote:What has changed?runthetrap wrote:woah. just checked the specialty housing prices & descriptions on columbia's website, and prices / descriptions have changed since the last time i read over them (like a week ago). huhhh
