Congrats to all the new admits!! Been in Cambridge this weekend; HLS knows what they're about. Very impressive.

No friends officially allowed. Only parents and significant others.stmichael91 wrote:Hey guys,
finally checking in. Got my JS2 yesterday.
Thanks for all that you guys do to help each other on this board.
I was wondering if anyone knew what the policy was on having guests for ASW?
Is it unusual to come with a friend? (He's giving me a ride there..)

Re: the above--although you mention that SOs are allowed, is this normal? Would it be weird? For those of you who went to ASW, were there a decent amount of SOs there? If so, did you find that you couldn't talk to them, or that it made things awkward in any way? How much of the program did they stay through?
Mine will definitely be coming to Cambridge with me, but it's just a matter of whether I will have her bring a friend to just explore the city during those days.

I brought mine. She went to some things, others she didn't. You can determine off of the schedule what those events are. It was also nice that during lunch on Sunday, we broke out into groups, and the SOs had their own group that was led by the Harvard Law Couples Association. So I would say it is definitely appropriate to bring them.sjgonzalez3 wrote:Yay checking in myself!Sourrudedude wrote:No friends officially allowed. Side note: conventional TLS "wisdom" is don't bring your parents, but there were alot of admits who did and there didn't seem to be any problem with it.

There's a schedule just for SO's for ASW so I think your SO will have good company. My wife is coming along and I think she'll join me for the fun stuff and check out housing and other stuff when an event doesn't interest her.isaiah1992 wrote:I brought mine. Re: Harvard Class of 2017
Hey guys!
Sorry to be crashing your class of 2017 board. My name is Isabel, and I'm a 1L at HLS. I'm looking for another female to share my two bedroom, one bath Harvard University Housing apartment with me. My current roommate is a 3L, and I'd like to stay in this apartment when she graduates.
The lease starts in July, but you could start in August (since my current roommate wants to stay through the end of July, will pay for July).
The apartment is part of the HUH Botanic Gardens complex: http://huhousing.harvard.edu/our-proper ... ic-gardens
The rent is $1140 per month, and that includes ALL utilities and internet. You'd have the bigger of the two bedrooms, with two closets and two windows. Laundry in-unit! Easy street parking (with permit). 10 minute walk to Porter Sq., 15 min. walk to Harvard Sq. 10 min. walk to the law school. Large living space, big kitchen. HU Housing is a very responsive landlord.
For context: I'm 25 years old. I am clean and quiet and want the same in a roommate. I like occasional dinner parties and wine/beer nights at my place but not big parties. No drugs, no smoking, no pets.
Does this sound like good fit? Message me here! Or contact me through the craigslist email system here: --LinkRemoved--

Not sure how long the wait typically is from JS2 to getting your harvard email/account, but I've got planning to do

I'll also PM you to be thorough.

Blargh, just made it home. Will give a breakdown of the really important details of ASW as soon as I'm not tired and gross.
By which I mean I'll be summarizing the food, alcohol, and swag.

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
HLS ASW was SOOO FUN!!
For those wondering about bringing a SO, I brought mine for the first two days and it worked out well. Just make sure your SO is prepared for people to assume that they got in and when people find out he/she is just a guest, they may be ignored for long periods of time.
And yes, I got my financial aid offer yesterday too! Not as much as I thought, but it's preliminary and from what the financial aid officer I talked to at ASW said, I can get more grant money by paying down my student loans.
