What does it mean if you didn't get this email? No merit aid?

about four posts back an admit from last year said this
So it sounds like you can solicit merit aid the same way you can solicit merit fee waivers. Worth a try at any rate.kraffcook wrote: That sounds about right. Last year, I didn't receive one of those e-mails, but I contacted them myself and basically asked to be considered and then they sent me one.

I'm at medians and I believe LS22 is above them- seems strange we have to specially solicit consideration for merit aid. Especially when it's only on these boards that I've seen anything about needed to do so. Not questioning your assessment- just Gtowns methods if that information is true.kershka wrote:about four posts back an admit from last year said thisSo it sounds like you can solicit merit aid the same way you can solicit merit fee waivers. It's weird that people with your numbers would need to solicit for sure. But it's not GULC's policy to need to solicit; just the previous admits advice if you didn't receive the email inviting you to apply for merit aid.ZipWhenSheMoves wrote:I'm at medians and I believe LS22 is above them- seems strange we have to specially solicit consideration for merit aid. I have no idea if soliciting the aid actually works; I just pulled the quote from a previous poster.

Re: Georgetown Class of 2017
I had a nightmare last night that all of us TLSers were at a bus stop and all got an email notification at the same time that Georgetown had just decided not to give out ANY MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS AT ALL and we all proceeded to scream/cry/huddle in defeated masses....
hopefully this is not the case

Wait, so there were two sholarship emails? One with the form and another one saying not to use it but to email instead?

As far as I'm aware there was only one email which invited you to update Georgetown via short survey thing about whether you wanted to be considered for merit aid.linkx13 wrote:Wait, so there were two sholarship emails? One with the form and another one saying not to use it but to email instead?
The stuff about emailing to be considered was another TLSer's advice for those who didn't receive the invitation email.

I received two emails. The first linked to the survey, the second mentioned there some issues with that survey and told me to reply back with my responses instead.

Oh hmm... I just got the first email and a confirmation after I submitted, maybe the survey didn't start having issues till after I'd already submitted

Yeah, I bet that's the case. I imagine they sent the follow up only to people who had not yet responded / had issues submitting the form.OliveBC wrote:Oh hmm... I got this too. This is probably because I submitted two forms (accidentally submitted my first one blank)waddle wrote:I received two emails. The first linked to the survey, the second mentioned there some issues with that survey and told me to reply back with my responses instead.

That's right, it's not a policy thing. You can do that with any law school; just bother them until they give you something. It won't always work, but there's no harm in tryingkershka wrote:It's weird that people with your numbers would need to solicit for sure. Yup, got this too. I'm surprised about the short deadline; do you think they will have a second round for students admitted later?waddle wrote:I received two emails. I just got my letter 2 weeks ago -- should I be worried about not having received the merit aid scholarship email? I was a pretty borderline case, so I didn't think I was going to be considered for merit aid anyway.

No, it looks like the people that got the email have been accepted for a while.mkaykay915 wrote:I just got my letter 2 weeks ago -- should I be worried about not having received the merit aid scholarship email? Just received my acceptance later in the mail! Looks like it'll still be awhile before the email comes for merit aid scholarships. On another note, is there any sort of travel stipend for the ASW?

Sadly no. Or at least there wasn't to the January one.

Just got the dean's welcome email. I was really hoping it was that merit aid email.

Re: Georgetown Class of 2017
Did any PT folks receive the scholarship email? My understanding is that they only give merit aid to ten or so PT students, but I emailed them anyway and asked to be considered.
(Hopefully they see it with how much volume they're getting!)

Me too. I'm going to contact then today as suggested and request consideration, but I'm not overly optimistic since it seems like I didn't make the cut to begin with :/SplitMyPants wrote:Just got the dean's welcome email. I was really hoping it was that merit aid email.

Re: Georgetown Class of 2017
So does that mean that if you didn't get the e-mail, unless you request for consideration, you won't get ANY money at ALL from GT? It's very unlikely I'll be getting any need-based aid, and if I have to pay full price at GULC that would definitely sway my ultimate decision...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
