Any RTK apps still waiting?

To the best of my knowledge, RTK invites haven't gone out yet.

Unless literally no one on TLS received one.

But I'm going with that being unrealistic.

FYI, I got a formal notification via email saying I hadn't been selected as a Root finalist--not surprised. But I was glad to know either way. Still holding out for a Furman nomination!

Also just got turned down for the RTK. Stings a little, even with the Ruby yesterday, but I'm holding out hope for a general scholarship. Good luck to those still waiting!

Probably not, but no final decisions until after ASWs. I'm very committed to PI so the RTK network would have been enticing.

ETA: to clarify, I'm not trying to complain. I still have great options, and I know this is tougher for people for whom the RTK was a clear top choice.

Yea, why would you accept a 'general scholarship' at NYU when the Ruby is going to be more money hands down? I mean, I'll take it if you don't want it

Sorry, I'm confused about the named vs. unnamed scholarships. I thought all NYU schollys were named, except for things like the Vandy and merit-based awards.

Got the email saying I was not an RTK finalist. Didn't expect to be with my numbers, but still upsetting, as that would be such a fantastic burden of debt off my plate to fulfill my PI goals.

Yea you're right. But the different named scholarships have different programs and support networks and goals. I was simply saying that I thought some of the named scholarship programs at NYU were better than the Rubinstein IMHO.

Agreed, that it was very nice - wayyy nicer than the small envelope Yale Law sent me. I haven't opened it yet, but obviously it's an acceptance and full tuition scholarship.

Yea I thought it would be way bigger too. But the brochures do look nice.

Guys idk what to do. I really want to do an ASW but I have zero days off during those days and would have to be "out sick" for two days. I am already taking a day to do the IILJ day before the late March days. Any suggestions? I teach in the city so I could make all the afternoon stuff but I'd miss a lot of good stuff.

If you're from the area, I don't think ASWs are really that important. You already know what the feel of NYU is like, and the official events are just sitting around listening to people talk. They might be saying something interesting, but it's not going to be particularly unique to NYU and you'll have plenty of time to listen to that later.

This. I would recommend finding a time to visit a class, but it doesn't have to be during ASW.

Thanks for the advice you two. I am planning on doing the IILJ day and then just tagging along with NYU Law students I know to classes. Maybe a sit down with admissions.

Looking through last year's thread suggested the invites were spread out even more than that, but it also may have just been delays in posting. I didn't research the denials that thoroughly.

Yeah last year's thread wasn't as forthcoming with info as we are--I mean, they got to 30 pages before RTK invites and we're already at 50 lol.

My impression (read: wishful thinking) is that e-mail notifications saying you were not a finalist are much simpler to get out in a day. If the invites are done by phone call, would seemingly make sense that they are staggered across a week or what have you.

No news is good news, as always.

I'm pretty sure AirBnB is allowed in NYC, having done it once. Plus just googled it.


Regarding the poll: Do you count need based grants as merit? I just got my penn award and they seperated it out...giving me X amount for merit and X amount for need based. Does NYU do similar? Also, is this need based amount an estimate that can change if my financial circumstances change next year?
