Are there any laptops that don't work with the exam software? I'm looking at getting a MacBook Air...I'm assuming that'll get the job done?
Also, according to the email from the bursar's office, tuition is due on Aug 1, but loans won't cleared until the first day of class? Do we just rack up late fees or what?
ETA: looking forward to getting down to Durham and meeting everyone!

Based on my recollection of one of the FinAid emails, it gets listed as "Anticipated Aid" and won't be a problem.blink wrote:Are there any laptops that don't work with the exam software? I'm looking at getting a MacBook Air...I'm assuming that'll get the job done?

Cool. I was wondering about this too. Have we gotten any info about signing up for direct deposit for our COL loan money yet?Serett wrote:Based on my recollection of one of the FinAid emails, it gets listed as "Anticipated Aid" and won't be a problem.blink wrote:Are there any laptops that don't work with the exam software? That packet that sent us directed us to the link on the bursar site with the form. However, from the looks of it they need a physical, voided check... If anyone knows how to do it electronically, that'd be awesome.KatyMarie wrote:Cool. I was wondering about this too. You can just scan a voided check and email it to them.SplitMyPants wrote:That packet that sent us directed us to the link on the bursar site with the form. Awesome, we're at 10 right now, which is great. I was working on setting up the league yesterday, in which I'll put a poll for buy-in amount. I'm in the middle of moving right now, though. So it may be a couple of days.gerrydawg wrote:Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Am I required to register my car in NC if I'm moving just for law school? Rising 2/3Ls, have any of you not re-registered and had any issues with the NC police because of it?
I'm planning to get an NC driver's license and register to vote in NC as well, if that makes a difference. Would be nice to have one less thing to worry about.

I reregistered right before I came here. Otherwise you have to transfer your title on top of buying new registration. It costs a shit ton, so I'm going to prolong it as long as possible.gta wrote:Am I required to register my car in NC if I'm moving just for law school? “Anyone whose legal residence is outside the state of North Carolina is considered a “non-resident” and can drive on their home country or home state license.”
“You do not need a NC driver’s license if you’re a non-resident*. NC considers the following people non-residents:
▪ Military members and their dependents.
▪ They must have valid out-of-state licenses.
▪ See “Military Drivers in NC” below.
▪ Out-of-state NC college or university students.
▪ Salespeople** who live in other states but travel to North Carolina.”
“If you have a valid out-of-state license… You must pass the vision exam, written test, and road signs tests. Once you pass, you’ll receive a Temporary Driving Certificate; your permanent North Carolina driver’s license should arrive by mail within 20 days.”
Hell. No.

The only reason I'd have gone through all of that is to vote in NC, but it's a wash because my vote isn't wasted in my home state, either. For those that are planning on voting in NC, also remember to keep an eye on their voter ID law, its stipulations, court battles over it, and when it's supposed to go into effect.

So annoyed about having to take the written test
but there are grant/funding options you can get for unpaid 1L summer internships that are only for NC residents so I'm going to do it.

If there are any current students on this thread, do you know if you need a license plate # to register with the parking pass? My old car died and I'm trying to find a new one but I don't want to miss out on a parking pass.
Edit: I called and they said you can change your license plate # later on FYI
